The Row at Jalan Doraisamy Kuala Lumpur (Beside Sheraton Hotel KL) is getting more worth a visit as League of Captains ( LOC ) joins in this month, located between Butter+Beans at The Row and Lima Pulo Nyonya Cuisine, further enriching the soon-back-to-glory Asian Heritage row.
Helmed by the team behind Pestle and Mortar, a Malaysian inspired clothing label established in the year of 2010, one can expect League of Captains at The Row is uniquely formed as a cafe cum boutique shop. Enjoy a cup of coffee with cakes while scanning through Pestle & Mortar. Cafe ground floor is occupied by a coffee counter, cake section and one long high tables & chairs that will full when 3-4 persons sitting together. Suggest to check out upstairs, which is more spacious, sectioned into a indoor and al-fresco area, completed by Pestle and Mortar retail.
The stairs leading us upstairs is a love-hate design. Though we find it stunning, blending well with the cafe’s interior, we wish it could be broader (or it is just we are too fat?), and less steep (or it is just we are scaring off ourselves for nothing big?). Despite so, we truly salute the staffs in League of Captains from the bottom of our heart, steadily carrying trays after trays of coffee and send to customer in its perfect state. Up and down the stairs, yet with smiles all the time. There is no trace of coffee spilling out from our cup. *hurray, clap hands*
Cappuccino RM10.80
With reputable barista from Podgy and the Banker, one of our favourite cafes in Hartamas to superhead the coffee bar in League of Captains, we can rest assure caffeine-fix here will be satisfying. Summergirl loves her cappuccino, with body she prefers. The town is filled with countless thoughtfully executed, pretty to WOW new cafes, but not up to expectation coffee. Thankfully, League of Captains are here to save this time.
Mocha RM10.80
League of Captains is in the midst of getting hearty meals like pasta, sandwiches for hungry stomachs. Follow their Instagram and Facebook closely so that you don’t miss a good lunch or dinner spot. But in the meantime, for savoury choices, enjoy goodness in pocket puff from CrazyPuff, enveloping fillings like pulled lamb, chicken rendang and and minced beef.
Chocolate Salted Caramel Cake RM13.00
For sweet treat, indulge into delectable desserts, pastries and cakes from The Accidental Bakers. Maybe you will like a banana cake with spiced pineapple, coated with lime cream cheese and garnished with salted hazelnut latte; or eye-pleasing red velvet cake; carrot and walnut cake thickly slathered with cream cheese, topped with nuts, just to name a few. We had a slice of chocolate salted caramel cake top with Maldon sea salt flakes. It is a dense, rich cake, with a hint of saltiness that drives in flavour contrast to the overall sweetness. Summerkid said it was good, but Summergirl still like cakes which are softer, more moist.
Comment: Yes, we will revisit. League of Captains is a good place. Friendly service, great coffee, lovely cake, pleasant environment. We will sit outdoor next time and enjoy the breeze! ‘Coz it was a raining when we dropped by this time.
