Universal Studios Singapore (新加坡環球影城) is the most awaiting moment on our second day. We started off with breakfast in Starz Cafe Hard Rock Hotel. Choices weren’t extensive, but good enough to boost up our energy for another long walking day. After that, Oola! Here goes our journey to Universal Studios Singapore!
There were seven zones in Universal Studios Singapore – Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, Far Far Away, Lost World, and Madagascar. We started with Hollywood boulevard framed by dynamic architecture, palm trees and the famous Walk of Frame that made us felt as if we had landed in the centre of the entertainment universe.
Along the Walk of Fame, we were greeted with Universal cast of characters from the glamorous Marilyn Monroe to wacky Woody Woodpecker and more. They appeared only on specific time, so keep an eye around, they may just beside you.
Other than that, the street was mostly about shopping and buying – The Dark Room, Star Characters, Silver Screen Collectibles, SuperStar Candies, The Brown Derby, and That’s a Wrap.
Continued with Madagascar, the cutest zone in Universal Studios Singapore that brought us to into a dense tropical jungle filled with strange and wonderful animals like lemurs and foosas from DreamWorks Animation film.
We went for a few rides here. Madagascar Crate adventure gave us an unforgettable indoor river boat ride with four heroes of Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria from the movie. These characters came alive with singing and dancing, very entertaining. Be careful for photographers, as your cameras may get splashed with water.
King Julien’s Beach Party-Go-Round was the next stop in Universal Studios Singapore. Here, we got to pick our on character like King Julien, Lemur, Marty, Gloria and ride on the caraousel.
Said that it was childish, but we were a happy child again on the ride.
We bumped into street entertainment of Madagascar Boogie! at 12.30pm, danced and had photographs with the penguin.
Weather was so hot that we slipped into the Marty’s Casa Del Wild Food Court for Singapore food and some cold air as it was fully air conditioned. =p
The food court was lined up with a variety of Southeast Asian favourites such as satay, tom yum, roasted chicken, vegetarians specials and more. Have your lunch or dinner here and make yourself feel like being in the movie!
The third zone was Far Far Away, a dreamy zone with a huge castle that drenched us into the world of “so the prince and princess kissed, and they lived happily ever after”.
For show, we joined the Shrek 4D Adventure movie where we watched, heard and felt the action right at our seat, as we joined the Princess Fiona & Shrek in a fairy tale adventure. Very 4D indeed, and the “Crawling of spiders on our legs” was the most memorable scenario. Ewww…
Reminder: To photographers, there’s splashing of water in this 4D movie, quite a few times. Keep/Protect your camera. Continued to board on the Enchanted Airways, a junior roller coaster that flight over Far Far Away. Very very mild roller coaster with mild swifting speed.
At the Fairy Godmother’s Potion Shop. We loved the colourful elixirs filled in potion bottles at the Fairy Gotmother’s Juice Bar, but never bought any. Found more cute merchandise from the world of Shrek, and the girl regretted not buying the Shrek T-shirt.
The Lost World was divided into two areas: Jurassic Park and WaterWorld. A zone that turned us into experiencing the world of ancient dinosaurs, and watched death defying stunts filled with thrills and spills.
WaterWorld is the must go, a ‘live’ water show full with death-defying stunts, awesome explosions and splashing thrills. Expected to get wet here (*or maybe not), as the area was divided into three section where you would either get seriously wet, slightly wet or not getting wet.
No picture taken from this show, as we only knew that there’s an area where we would not get wet after getting in there. Feeling regretted to the max for not doing enough homework on this. But we strongly recommend all to take note on the showing time (* only three shows a day) and witness the wonderful show.
For Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure, continued to get all wet. Of course you can buy raincoat before going in. Nothing much special, just a river raft ride through primeval dinosaur habitats and you will get wet by the end of the ride. We enjoyed the moment when we got all soaked immediately from head to the toe as the water heavily splashing through. Yeah! #Fun.
We did not go for the Amber Roack Climb, but the girl eyed on the Canopy Flyer and asked the boy to accompany her. Refuse tone came at first, but he was the one that asked for a second ride after that. As the flyer soar over Jurassic Park, we had a bird’s-eye view of the park, with legs hung over in the air.
Moving on to Ancient Egypt. Architectures here seemed very much alike to the Egypt theme in Legoland Malaysia. Giant ancient pyramids, obelisks and Pharaohs tombes stood fast against the sands of time, transported us to 1930’s of Egypt, the Golden Age of Egyptian Exploration.
We were told by friends saying that Revenge of the Mummy was the must try. Yes, it was, in fact, a must try. This ride brought us through a roller coaster ride in total darkness, and we were ‘plagued’ on all sides by huge fireballs, swarms of scarab beetles and army of warrior mummies. A very high speed of forward ride, back turning, 360 degrees turning and more. Super syiok.
While the Revenge of the Mummy was very thrilling, the other rides in the same zone, Treasure Hunters was on mild side, suitable for the young to drive their own dessert jeep through an abandoned Egyptian evacation site.
Reaching Sci-Fic theme, we wandered around the area, looking at roller coaster flying over our head one after another, thinking we should take the ride or not.
Summerkid: ” You go up. I will wait for you down here.”
Summergirl: “No, we must ride together. Just the HUMAN red line only”
Summerkid: “Har…”
Summergirl: “Go la go la…once in a life time mar…Gooooooo laaaaa~~”
Summerkid: “……ok lo”
Summergirl:” Yeah! “
Waiting time shown was only 5 minutes but there was actually no need to wait. Nobody wanted to get on the ride? The passage to the gate was very very long. Summerkid was basically shivering all the way from the entrance till the gate to board the ride.
When we reached, the staff asked us to take off our shoes, and Summerkid was like: ” What…my legs will be hanging in the air? I thought got platform??!! I don’t want to ride already.”
“……..”
The girl managed to convinced him again, influence him with the “Once in a lifetime” sentence. hohohoho. So the end result: We both agreed it was not bad, quite thrilling for the zooming speeds of 82.8km/h.
We didn’t went on the Cylon blue roller coaster as we felt that we couldn’t get over with the twists and turns, goes up, around, upside down and 360 degrees with an intense corkscrew and cobra roll.
Transfomers The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle was the ride we never went on, sad. It was already 6.15pm and the waiting time was 90 minutes. So we gave up the queue and went for some souvenirs purchase in New York. Would definitely get to the ride if there’s any chance in future.
Thanks that we still managed to have photos with Autobots.
Finally we were at the last stop, New York, a street that allowed us to feel the spirits of America’s biggest and grandest city. We were drown in the impressive city skylines, landmarks, facades that set the scenes for this big city real-time movie production.
We catch up with the Sesame Street Stage Shows, joining Elmo and his friends in singing and dancing.
Bought some Elmo souvenirs from the Sesame shop- cute keychain and fluffy Elmo and Cookie Monster fridge magnet. =)
We left Universal Studios Singapore reluctantly at 7 pm, wishing to stay longer.
Will miss you. Bye Bye~~
