Walked over to Sitka Restaurant for more coffee after our brunch at Yellow Brick Road Cafe Jalan Batai, Damansara Heights KL. The reality: In an era where branding plays a role in creating crowd, it seems that the new born Yellow Brick Road which is just two doors away, receives more attention comparing to Sitka Restaurant that has been around for more than a year.
Saying equal competition? Not at all, since both restaurants are of different concept in interior and food selections. If we were to put them into comparison, then – both serve very good coffee. For us, Sitka Restaurant and Yellow Brick Road Cafe deserves a visit for their creative dishes and decent coffee.
Located next to Torii Japanese Yakitori Gastro Bar, Sitka Restaurant keeps on low profile. There is no obvious shop sign, so don’t bother to look for Sitka by driving around the only two rows of shops in Batai Village. Park your vehicle at the well-constructed car park (currently FOC) and just check out a shop with pine tree printed on the glass door.
Sitka Restaurant showcases modern, stylish interior, classy at the first glance but casual mode gradually comes in after we sat down. Wooden floorings, dark tone furnishing and wall colours, contrasted by ample of natural lights in the morning. Decoration is at minimal, but we like the small pot of fresh flowers on each table, giving a sense of calm, tranquil.
Flat White RM10
We went straight for coffee. Too full to check out Sitka signature dishes on the menu such as Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Steamed Bao. The Black (espresso, long black, etc.) and White( Latte, cappuccino, etc.) are priced within RM10, while additional RM1 or RM2 for iced coffee.
Chocolate Mousse Meringue RM15
Lavender Cherry Pound Cake, Valrhona Chocolate Cake, Peach Cobbler, danish, croissant, cinnamon roll….finally we settled down for Chocolate Mousse Meringue from Sitka cake & dessert counter. Layers of texture, putting together crispy but airy light meringue that is not too sweet with raspberry sauce, creating a zesty touch that is slightly overwhelmed by the rich, chocolaty mousse. Goes well with their coffee, and tea too.
Comments: Service is pretty good. Semi self-service, where staffs will hand over Sitka menu to all diners, and after browsing through, head over to the counter and place your order. Will definitely come back again and try out their delicious looking buttermilk fried chicken (which is said to be one of the best buttermilk chicken in KL), bao and tacos.
