A busy lunch hour business for the newly opened Mei by Fat Spoon at Desa Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur on the forth day of Chinese New Year.
Ceiling-to-floor glass window, ample of natural lights, interior of all white complemented by furnitures in soft wooden colour, further decorated with mini green plants, utensils from famous furniture store IKEA, and Japanese utensils to execute a cozy, homey interior. Definitely an inviting atmosphere that has drawn some winning points for Mei by Fat Spoon even before you start indulging into their food.
Located along the busy street of Desa Sri Hartamas, nearby to Momos Thai Steamboat Restaurant , Breadfruits and Olle Cafe, Mei by Fat Spoon can be easily missed out as there isn’t any shop sign on it yet when we paid a visit. Just look for Butik Jerrypulcine (*soon to be replaced by Good Taste Wanton Noodle Restaurant) and HOTEL painted in bright red-yellow, Mei by Fat Spoon is a corner lot houses between these two shops.
Mei by Fat Spoon menu focuses on Japanese-inspired dishes, with Western and Oriental touch for modern fusion twist. No worries on what to eat in Mei by Fat Spoon, as you can order from snacks like edamame, chawanmushi, deep fried chicken skin skewers, honey soy gizzard skewers to main courses such as Unagi Rice, Braised Beef Short Ribs with Rice, Mentaiko Spaghetti, Tomato Cream Prawn Spaghetti , then complete with creative desserts that range from green tea puff, cempedak spring roll with ice cream, chocolate cake, green tea creme brulee.
White Juice RM10
That’s not all, as Mei by Fat Spoon is secured with different types of drink to quench the thirst too. Diners can either go healthy with juices that are served in colour as it is named, or order ice blended, tea, coffee and tea coolers. Our White Juice is really “white”, putting together coconut + lychee + basil seed that grant a refreshing sensation throughout.
Flat White RM10
Long black, latte, flat white, cappuccino and other espresso-based coffee for cafe hoppers.
Cempedak Spring Rolls RM15
One of the best-sellers and signature dessert that won the hearts of many customers at Fat Spoon SS21, hence seeing Cempedak Spring Rolls with Ice Cream on the second child of Fat Spoon is much expected. A clever and unique combination of hot & cold, crispy & creamy sweet but still, not exactly memorable to us.
Fried Lemongrass Chicken Poppers Rice Bowl RM17
Fried lemongrass chicken proppers are decent, but seems over-battered. Crunchiness dominating most of the texture, hence we can barely taste the tenderness of chicken. Served with cabbage slaw, Japanese steamed rice and miso raddish soup, considered reasonable in price.
