Contour PJ – the most happening new roastery cafe in PJ, serving awesome coffee with amazing baking goodness at the same time.
Being the home of 3 times Malaysia Barista Championship winner, it is not surprise to see the long queue every time we pass by Contour. In fact, even us ourselves, manage to get a seat there only on our 3rd visit – and it had to as early as 8AM, right from the point the cafe is opened.
So until the hype for Contour PJ goes down, our general advise is to be there early, if you want some quiet moments to chill, sip on your coffee slowly and tuck into fresh baked pastries. However, if you don’t mind the queue and wait, or just looking for takeaway, then you can go there anytime. Our friend told us that crowd during weekday is far lesser, but it has to be before lunch time too.
While many cafes opt for modern, trendy design to boost the entire cafe ambience, Contour has chosen to bring up the nostalgic vibes of this neighbourhood area – highlighting a lot of unique elements that old architecture has, while adding in well-fitted contemporary ideas.
We love the dark wood coffee counter with open clean look, that we got beautiful moments watching professional baristas at work. There’s a roastery section at the end of the cafe too.
To be honest, if not because of the location pinned, we would think that it is one of the heritage shoplots in Petaling Street.
Croissant, pain au chocolat, strawberry danish, blueberry danish, shokupan, chocolate & almond praline cake,almond croissant, sourdough, daifuku red bean danishes, blueberry almond pies, scones, etc. – order any these and you will not disappoint. More excellent pastries will be added to Contour menu list too, so stay close to their Instagram page. For coffee, you can choose between Brazilian or Ethiopian beans.
One bulk extra for the latter, but it is worth getting both and taste the difference. For non-dairy milk coffee drinker, rejoice as you can swap to oatmilk for FOC at Contour. Not sure about in future though. Filter coffee is available too. Try either Ehiopia Chelbesa Washed, Ethiopia Chire Natural, Costa Rica Labrador COE#1 or Panama Abu GN 1935.
