When we were introduced with Director’s Cut TTDI, we were like: “owh, another new saloon in town”. Found out that we are wrong. Director’s Cut TTDI is actually a new extension by the famous Whisky Bar KL in Changkat Bukit Bintang, conceptualized with the intention of honoring tradition and leading the way in new era restaurant & bar design.
Director’s Cut by The Whisky Bar is located in Menara KEN TTDI, which also houses Refinery and El Cerdo – interesting, all under the same group. The space is characterized by an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere, inspired by the noble look of modern whisky distilleries and grand hotel bars, while paying tribute to the history and tradition of whisky as a spirit that celebrates life.
Love the gold shimmering wall cabinets and bar counter that showcase an extensive display of whisky bottle selections, along with liquid know-how and culinary technique, bringing a touch of luxury to the world of fine drinking & dining in the ever evolving neighbourhood of TTDI.
Other than the main dining hall, The Director’s Cut TTDI also has private rooms that exude nostalgic charm of the 1920’s era, fitted with luxurious leather sofas and modern AV entertainment. For food, the two-pages menu lists down promising selections of salad, appetizers, pastas, pizzas, steaks, paella, burger, mains and sweet treat.

We still prefer the steak at The Steakhouse KL (*connect with The Whisky Bar KL Changkat) but this doesn’t bother us much, as the cocktail, whisky flight, and lovely ambience make up the whole wonderful dining experience.
End our meal with Panna Cotta Granola RM25, that almost deserves a place on brunch menu. Smooth, jiggly panna cotta, served on a colourful bed of mixed Berries & Mango, topped with fresh Passion Fruit Sauce.

Another thing that makes Director’s Cut unique is their “From The Culinary Lab Project”, with flavours created with Rotavap R-300, in collaboration with chemist Miss Chong. They make their own extractions and concentrations from fruits like banana, orange and apple to coffee, then use it in their cocktails.
We are lucky enough to met Chemist Miss Chong during our visit. And yes, you read it right, she is a real chemist. We learn a little about the extraction concept, but we feel you should really come over to try out cocktails here, and ask her about how the process in detail. She will be more than happy to share about it.

Personally feel that The Director’s Cut is quite a special dining venue, beyond just a normal whisky and cocktail bar. The team places in extra effort in different directions, making The Director’s cut a nice place for gathering and celebration, as well as for laid-back, cozy dining.
