There was once we discussed on this topic – “will KL have cafes like those in Bangkok?” . Dou Dou Bake is pretty close, but not for most we have visited. And recently, we found one! Elephant Republic Coconut Coffee & Tea, in Bukit Bintang area (*one street from Jalan Alor).
And we are quite impressed that there’s finally such cafe right in the KL city. White painted structure, so beautiful under the warmth sunny day, clear blue sky. Oh wow, feel like we were being transported to Bangkok!
Thoughtfully design space, minimalism, wash white themed complement by wooden fixtures. Arches entrance that worth spending some time to take a picture with.
A courtyard that centered around tropical plant, pebble stone flooring, L-shape concrete bench, plus another Instagram-worthy spot right by the window with small coffee bar. Love how they give this outdoor dining area a touch of lush green at the right proportion, then the rest remained chic clean, yet doesn’t fall short of details.
Weather was really hot that day so we sneaked to the air-con indoor filled with natural wood accents, and a wall of menu showcasing a large choices of thirst-quenching drinks.
Choose from Signature Iced Coconut Latte, Coconut Milk Iced Blended, Double Lime Soda, Strawberry Cheese Iced Blended, Keto Bullet Proof Coffee, Tom Yum Soda, Elephant Blended, Bounce Coconut Milk Tea, Mango Iced Blended Ice Cream; to more classic options like Iced Americano, Iced Coffee, Iced Mocha, Peach Lemon Soda, Lime & Honey Soda, Passion Fruit Pineapple Soda. Drinks take the limelight here, so it is suggested to come by after main meals.
Wooden staircases connect us to the upstairs, another space that exudes a more cheerful atmosphere, like in Bali.
This place really that makes us feel like as if we are oversea. Certainly a highly recommend respite away from the hustle and bustle of the city. What makes this cafe more worthwhile is, it is right next to Laman Belakang- the famous wall art street in Bukit Bintang. You can literally spend a half day here, exploring artwork by talented artist, enjoy lovely meal and then make a stop at Elephant republic to chill, have a specially concocted drink.
Judging from the strategic location of Elephant Republic, we guess it will become one of the top cafes for tourists in KL when the border reopens, and the tourism activities resumed to normal. Can’t tell when, but we hope it won’t take too long. Afterall, many of us really miss travelling.
