On the days where social media is not so popular yet, and where we were still too young to have the “fund” to go on food hunt in town, it is a shame that we didn’t know about (*and get to try out) Mr.Ho’s Fine Foods in Bangsar Shopping Centre, though it is a well-known eatery in town back in the late 1990s.
The establishment left BSC in 2007, for a solid 10 years. A period that is long enough to make many loyal patrons thought that all the delicious roast pork and gourmet sausages that Mr. Ho takes pride at, could be left just in their memory. But hey, good news, Mr Ho made a came back! In 2017, he opens The Butcher’s Table in SS2, with a common goal to bring great food with a side of genuine hospitality, hoping to bring satisfying smiles on every diners they serve.
This family-run business is quite a success. They continue to venture into different states beyond just SS2 PJ, introducing the brand in Ipoh, Perak and Bukit Mertajam, Penang as a form of restaurant – The Butcher’s Table; as well as Mid Valley Johor under the name Butcher’s Kitchen in Village Grocer.
The Butcher’s Table at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur one of their latest outlets, humbly opens the door at Level 7, Dining Loft of the mall. So much nearer to where we stay with easy access using public transportation, so no reason for not paying a visit. Lol. We miss out Mr. Ho’s Fine Food decades ago, so not for this time.
The Butcher’s Table at Pavilion KL takes up quite a huge space of the level, large capacity that can ideally serves as event space, but casual dining is welcomed all time – for couple, friends, family, corporate dining on any occasion.
For food, the menu is all about pork and the goodness that comes with it. From the famed crispy roast pork, Iberico ribs, US pork shoulder chop, German meatloaf burger to well marinated fresh cuts and 100% natural wood chip smoked meats such as pancetta and smoked pork knuckles, just to name a few.
Butcher’s Signature Roast Pork is a must-have. Crispy cracking skin, carefully roast without using five spice powders so that we get to savour the original taste of the meat. Served with homemade Thai garlic dip. Have it ala-carte (RM17.50), or with a side (RM25) like mashed potatoes, crispy fries, sauerkraut, coleslaw, garlic rice, green salad, potato salad, gherkins.
Gourmet sausages here is a healthier alternative to many regular sausages bought in store. It is crafted with natural hog casing, 100% real pork, without fillers. Nitrate-free and presevative-free too. Flavours available – Deluxe Nuerberger Ring (sauteed onion), Deluxe Cheese Ring (melted cheddar), Garlic, Flamming Hot (bird’s eye chilli), Farmer’s Bratwurst ( English parsley), English oxford (breadcrumbs), mushroom. Price from RM10.50.
The Butchet’s Special Pork Tomapork RM88 that we get hooked on.
So juicy, succulent and meaty. Portion is huge so it is reasonable at RM88, ideal to be shared in a group of 4 persons. If you cannot finish, don’t waste. “ta-pau” and continue to have them at home, over rice, noodles, or stir fried with vegetables. We test-tried. Superb. Haha.
Other than mouth-watering porcine delights, The Butcher’s Table’s menu also covers beef, chicken, lamb and fish dishes. And you gotta try Signature Salted Beef (RM39.50 ala-carte, RM47 with a side). Prepared using Australian Beef, cured for 10 days then slow-cooked for 24 hours in special broth until it is meltingly tender. Highly recommended. We don’t mind bringing home a portion of these and stuffed together with pickles & mustard in toasted bread. Nah, great meat can easily make a sandwich to-die-for.
Coffee 1-for-1. Something that made Summergirl’s day.
Had a pleasure to meet with Ms. Tiffany, Mr. Ho’s daughter during our lunch session that day. Love their passion and down-to-earth effort, stays true to its root without going short-cuts in serving good quality meat and dishes. It makes every dish here has a story to tell, and therefore, your experience at The Butcher’s Table worthwhile.
Though now could be a tough time for running restaurants, The Butcher’s Table still have a lot of thoughts in mind. They already planning to have deli counter in major supermarkets, so that more meat lovers can get their quality products and cook at home.
