Tiger Sugar Pavilion KL, 老虎堂 second outlet of this famous Brown Sugar Pearl Milk brand, is now opened. Located at LG floor of Pavilion Elite, next to Krispy Kreme Doughnut.
The Alley, Tiger Sugar, KOI, Xing Fu Tang, Daboba, Tealive, Chatime, Moojicha, etc., we literally lost count on the amount of pearl milk tea/ bubble milk tea/ boba milk shops mushrooming in Malaysia recently. These beverage cafes are like making a big come back, after the trend subsided few years ago. One shop after another is opened in different places in Klang Valley, some are closely next to each other. Visit SS15 Subang at night and check out the crowd, you will know what we mean.
Among all, The Alley, Xing Fu Tang and Tiger Sugar are probably the TOP 3 most talked about boba milk tea shop in KL and PJ for now. We visited the newly opened 老虎堂 Tiger Sugar Pavilion KL, the second outlet of this brand after their first shop in Sunway Pyramid.
We aren’t a big fan of bubble milk tea or brown sugar boba tea, and cannot really understand the hype but don’t mind giving it a try. Must drink and share our thoughts right. Hoho. Comparing to many other cafes, Tiger Sugar has a very focused menu, offering only Brown Sugar Boba Milk Series, Brown Sugar Pearl Milk Series, Brown Sugar Tea Series and Tea Series. Price from RM8.90 to RM12.90.
Brown Sugar Boba Milk with Cream Mousse RM12.90. Tiger Sugar signature drink – Brown sugar pearl with Japan’s top dairy brand fresh milk, capped with thick cream mousse. Before drink, shake for 15 times. Why 15 times? Because the “how to drink” direction says so. Lol.
While for The Alley, we need to shake for 9 times first before drink. Haha.
Verdict & Comparison Time =D: Tiger Sugar 老虎堂 VS The Alley 鹿角巷 (* only tried 2 before so, ya, sorry for the limited source. Just personal taste, fans of each, don’t turn on the war ya =D)
Milk: Tiger Sugar milk is thicker and creamier, while The Alley version is more refreshing. Both are easy to drink.
Boba: The Alley’s brown sugar pearl is more chewy, aka the pleasing doink doink/ QQ texture. While Tiger Sugar’s version is softer (*some significantly chewier) hence unequal chewiness for the one we bought.
Menu: The Alley menu is larger with various choices and flavours from milk tea base, to fresh milk, brewed tea, fruit tea, colourful aurora series, etc. For Tiger Sugar, the menu specializes on brown sugar pearl series.
So Tiger Sugar or The Alley better for you? Which one is your favourite? Or you prefer other brands are better? Let us know your thoughts. Will try out more in near future.
