May 18, 2018 by summerkid_summergirl

While Changkat Bukit Bintang Kuala Lumpur is very much associated with happening nightlife in KL, not many people knows that, amidst the hustle and bustle of the street, lies a noteworthy pop-up restaurant that is prides for offering authentic Malaysian flavours experience, highlighting the nostalgia of sharing meals made with love, and dedication to art.

In contrary to the bars, pubs and restaurants along the heritage street, this pop-up restaurant, named WAU Dining, balances tradition and modernity in their food and decor, celebrating rich culture from different regions in the country with contemporary touch.

It is located at the end of Changkat Bukit Bintang, which is also near to Jalan Alor – one of the best places for tourists to hunt for delicious hawker street food; and about 10 minutes walk from Bukit Bintang, the shopping paradise where Pavilion KL, Sungei Wang, LOT 10, Fahrenheit 88 reside.

Look for Rabbit Hole – a dine, drink and dance establishment with 5 unique concept environments, in a pre-colonial building. WAU is one of the dining themes.

The team behind WAU Dining churns out favourite comfort foods, prepare using recipes that are age-old secrets, passed down from generation to generation.

Other than normal ala-carte, WAU Dining Muhibbah Platter, which is meant to be shared among 3 to 4 persons, deserves a mention. Interestingly, it has rice, signature Ikan Bakar Bumbu Kecap, Sotong Bakar, Ayam Goreng Berempah, Beef Rendang, Tempeh, Kacang Buncis Goreng, Crackers and Telur, all generously laid over banana leaves.

It is highly suggested to enjoy this Muhibbah Set by hand, as it is said to be more fun than eating with utensils. Just like how you eat Nasi Kandar using hands!

Ikan Bakar Bumbu Kecap, our favourite from the platter. Crispy outside, moist inside charcoal-grilled Nile Fish, beautifully flavoured up with homemade special sauce.

Satay ayam is tasty too – juicy, tender chicken chunks, coated with mild honey sweetness.

Give this hiden haven a try and learn more about rich cuisine of Malaysia through a true taste of home!
