Isabel Restaurant & Bar in Jalan Mesui, Bukit Bintang Kuala Lumpur – a new venture by Alexis group, an establishment with over two decades of experience in F&B industry. This is certainly an advantage for the opening of Isabel KL, as the team knows better on the ins and outs to create memorable dining experience for customers, be it on food, ambience or services. No doubt, the environment has successfully attracted us over, despite a meal here would be rather expensive.
Putting together modern European & Asian-style layout with botanical-inspired decorations, Isabel Restaurant & Bar proves to becoming a fast-rising destination for Instagrammable restaurants’ lovers. Almost every corner is photography-worthy, setting the right mood differently during daytime and evening.
Isabel Restaurant & Bar KL menu doesn’t cover extensive selection, price on the high side as well but rest assured, mostly worth to explore. Small plates, big plates, cocktail snacks and desserts – decided our favourites, sat back, relaxed and look forward to how those dishes would look and taste like. Something that makes us feel more anticipated every time when comes to no-picture-menu.
First dish. Steamed Chicken & Prawn Dumplings with Fragrant Chilli Oil (RM14) from the bar menu. Not in our to-order initially but since staffs told us that they ran out of Chicken Satay (*We had no idea why, because it was just 12.40PM that time, and they opened at 12noon), we had to switch. Not too bad, is OK to give this a skip unless you are really craving for – DUMPLING.
Next, Hor Mok (RM25). Highly recommended! It is Thai style savoury curry custard akin to our local otak-otak, made from prawn, barramundi, betel leave, santan and curry. Very flavourful with meaty textures from seafood, subtle hints of spices and very mild spiciness. Great with a bowl of rice.
Stir Fry Lala (RM28), crowd favourite in Isabel Restaurant & Bar. Generous amount of clams stir-fried with kemangi leaf, garlic, soy sauce and other condiments. Other small plates options you can have include Larb Gai Salad, Mango Kerabu, Vietnamese Fruit Salad and Urap Pucuk Manis.
Big plates like Ikan Tiga Rasa, Prawn Sambal Tumis, Beef Gulai, Crab Curry, Lamb Massaman, Oxtail Assam Pedas and Red Curry Duck are available too, all priced abover RM40. Didn’t order any as we were afraid that the portion would be too much for two. Check them out if you dine with a larger group. Heard that Red Duck Curry RM52 is delicious.
For beverage, Isabel Mesui KL carries a proud list of alcoholic drinks from wine, to cocktails, beer, champagne, sake.
Non alcoholic, go for coffee, soda, juices, tea. As usual, we went for latte (RM15) and flat white (RM15). Not the best in town, but decent, not too bad for caffeine fix.
Total bill came to RM117++ after service tax and gov tax. Still considered affordable, just not a place we can visit often. However if you are planning for small function like birthday party, proposal, anniversary, baby shower, Isabel Restaurant & Bar is a great choice. Do remember to reserve your table ahead especially during weekend.
