Grand Imperial Seafood Hotpot & BBQ Restaurant 喜粤 (Pork Free), the latest addition in Pavilion Elite KL, Level 9. Enjoy excellent steamboat experience, BBQ, China Dao Xiao Mian, La Mian, Roast Duck and Dim Sum in this well-known establishment – 喜粤飲食集團.
We actually didn’t realize that Pavilion Elite has opened until Level 9 until we went all the way up to the highest floor, checking out what else to eat in this brand new mall. Visited Grand Imperial Seafood Hotpot & BBQ Restaurant with a bunch of friends last week, and had a really good dinner here.
Opening up Grand Imperial Seafood Hotpot menu, we were impressed with the abundant food choices here. From steamboat appetizers to handmade dumpling, fishballs, meatballs; seafood like tiger prawns, fish, flower crab, lobster, scallop; imported premium selections including wagyu beef, New Zealand lamb cutlet, Live South Africa abalone, Canada geoduck, we literally lost count on the varieties they have. Of course, we had a hard time deciding what to eat too. LOL.
Started with Japan Hokkaido fresh scallop, specially recommended by the chef. Due to its freshness, it is best to enjoy these Hokkaido scallops in semi-cooked stage. Grill for a good minute at each side to lock in the juiciness, while searing the surface to give a lovely charred aroma.
This is sooo nice! Sweet, bursts with juiciness as we bite through this “medium rare” scallop.
Next up, Canada geoduck. We used to be so afraid of geoduck due to its not so appealing appearance but once tasted, we are hooked, especially the real fresh geoduck. Grand Imperial Seafood Hotpot & BBQ Restaurant serves their geoduck in sashimi style, whereby you can eat it on its own, by slice like sashimi; or, dip into steamy soup and cook it for 2 seconds.
Personally, we like the geoduck sashimi version. Slightly crisp with chews, no funky smell we swear. LOL.
Who doesn’t like a premium seafood platter? Grand Imperial Seafood Hotpot & BBQ Restaurant has this covered for you! We got ourselves Alaska King Crab, Fresh Oysters and Tiger Prawns.
Alaska King Crab– huge and meaty one!
Summerkid was so into these fresh oysters. Plump and sweet, squeeze in lemon juice and slurp it down. Wonderful.
Other live seafood (*seasonal price) option you can have here are Japanese Kuruma Prawns (need reservation), Sabah Round Clam, Dalian Fresh Abalone, Bambo Clam, Deep Sea Lobster, South Africa Live Lobster, Live Flower Crab, Australia Mud Crab, Australia Snow Crab, Live Coral Trout, Fresh Ocean Garoupa and more.
Appetizer – Chilled Cherry Tomato with Sea Salt RM14.80
Appetizer – Century Egg with Japanese Young Ginger RM17.60
Appetizers to snack on while waiting for our steamboat soup to boil. Can’t wait! We like the Century Egg by the way. Must eat with ginger!

Grand Imperial is very particular not only on the freshness of their ingredients, but also the taste and quality to ensure the best for all diners. Check out Chef’s signature steamboat sauce. It is fiery hot, with peanuts, pairing great with almost all the steamboat items.
Other than that, handmade sea prawn paste, handmade cuttlefish paste with black truffle, handmade shrimp dumpling with chicken, handmade beef ball, handmade black cuttle fish ball, handmade cuttle fish ball, handmade fish ball and handmade chicken ball are must-try.
Personally, we recommended Handmade Cuttle Fish Paste with Black Truffle and Handmade Sea Prawn Wanton with Minced Chicken. The former is great with flavours heighten up by truffle; while the later is surprisingly excellent by having minced chicken in it.
Order just your favourite or try more flavours in on go by getting their Four Combination RM41.80 – cuttle fish, black cuttle fish, prawn and fish balls all together.
Grand Imperial is probably one the very few Chinese restaurants in KL offering high grade beef for steamboat. Japanese A3 Wagyu Beef, Japanese A4 Wagyu Beef, Japanese A4 Wagyu Beef, Australia M9 Wagyu Beef, Austalia M6 Wagyu Beef – get your premium beef craving fix here.
Look at the marbling~~
Deep Fried Crispy Beancurd Skin Roll (RM11/5pieces) made from Hong Kong beancurd skin, also one of our all-time-favourite for steamboat. You can eat this original – crispy and addictive; or dunk it into the soup and let it fully absorb with flavours of broth – the way we like. Hehe.
Chef from China in action, showcasing impeccable dao xiao mian skill. He is so quick and skillful in slicing off stripes of noodle from a block of dough.
Shame to tell but this is our first time having this legendary dao xiao mian 刀削麵, or knife cut noodles. Like the smooth, firm and chewy texture!
Balanced up our meal with vegetables and mushroom.
End the meal sweet with Fried Ice Cream wrapped with Sponge Cake (RM13.80) as dessert. Plus point for the sponge cake filling, which we don’t find in many other fried ice cream. Chilled Avocado Cream with Beancurd, Deep Fried Pancake with Sesame, Macha Pudding and Chilled Banana Cream with Milk are worth checking out too.
Yasss… they have suan mei tang酸梅湯, or Sour Plum Sweet Drink- Summergirl’s favourite. Refreshing, great drink to cool down the body after steamboat and BBQ session. They also have Double Boiled Red Dates with Black Fungus (紅棗茶 Hong Zou Cha) and Double Boiled Chuanbei Chicken Grass Herbal Tea (Gei Guat Chou雞骨草). Only RM5.90 per bottle.
Do give this restaurant a try the next time you are here. Planning to come again on weekend with family for dim sum breakfast, which is available daily from 11.30PM till 5PM.
