The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur is putting on a Festive Feast from 27 May to 24 June 2017, showcasing signature dishes representative of the 13 states in Malaysia and addition to that, middle Eastern specialities.
From Johor to Melaka, Pahang to Kelantan, Perak to Penang and all the way up to north to Perlis, diners will go on a gastronomic journey through colourful Malaysia, in the form of an exquisite buffet.
Executive Chef Zaffar and his team has prepared a list of delicious menu for this month’s long buffet, promise to enticing even the most discerning tastebud. Be it Asam Pedas Ikan Tenggiri from Melaka, Ikan Patin Masak Tempoyak from Pahang, Laksa from Kedah, Nasi Kerabu from Terengganu, Penang Rojak, Kek Lapis from Sarawak, Talam Pandan from Sabah and Cik Mek Molek from Kelantan – discover, or reminisce the intricate flavours and textures that each signature dish from different state has to offer.
Get started with appetite opener – Kerabu Mangga dengan Udang Kedah, Pecal Sotong dan Kangkung Johor, ulam-ulaman with Sambal Budu Kelantan; and then toss yourself a bowl of fruits with rojak sauce before adjourn to hot dishes.
Beautiful sauces dressing over poultry, seafood, meat and vegetables. This how we love Malaysian food. Spiciness never comes in just one way; the colour, richness and taste of curry vary from one state to another, different cooking method to bring the most out of the herbs and spices aroma. Try Ayam Percik Kelantan, Sayur Lodeh Johor, Madak Lemak Pucuk Manis Perlis, Ikan Patin Masak Tempoyak Pahang, Gulai Ikan Tongkol Terengganu, Ikan Tenggiri Asam Pedas Melaka, Sambal Udang Petai Perak…
…Rendang Daging Tok Perak, Gulai Daging dengan Nangka Kedah, Sweet & Sour Fish Fillet Selangor, Ayam Masak Berlada, Pajeri Nenas Berempah Johor, Daging Masak Halia Ala Chinese Sabah…
Tender, juicy cut, minimal gamey smell Kambing Panggang, one of the star dishes in Ritz-Carlton Festive Feast buffet.
Continue with Mee Hoon Goreng Johor and Mee Goreng Mamak Penang, then pair with Grilled items including Beef Satay, Chicken Satay, Ikan Bakar Sabah, Tilapia Merah, Ikan Keli and Ikan Cencaru. Our favourite from this station – Ikan Cencaru.
Do not leave Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur Festive Feast buffet without trying their roti canai and Murtabak Kuala Lumpur. It is so good! We normally give a skip to such dish in buffet as it fills up the stomach space easily but in this place, no, never. Lightly crisp outer layer, chewy yet fluff roti, folding in flavorful, generous amount of murtabak filling. Summergirl had more than 4 pieces of this. Yea, that nice.
Keep some space for dessert. The buffet lines up a lovely treats of local kuih and sweet soup, featuring Kuih Ondeh-Ondeh Selangor, Kuih Koci Negeri Sembilan, Bubur Kacang Hijau Selangor, Bubur Lambuk Selangor, Cucur Badak Kedah, Kek Lapis Perak, Talam Pandan Perak, Bubur Hitam Pulut Manis Kedah, Bubur Cha Cha Kedah, Kuih Lopes Perlis, amongst others.
Not to forget, modern dessert selection are worth checking out too, such as Black Forest Cake, Fruits Tarts, Sago Gula Melaka. Black Forest Cake is a must! It is not your usual chocolate sponge cake with berries layer Black Forest Cake, but a delicate piece of rich, chocolaty French-style chocolate praline sweet treat.
