MyTown Cheras Kuala Lumpur (*connected with IKEA Cheras) has finally opened on 16th March 2017! So happy to know that there’s another new shopping mall opening near to our staying place after Sunway Velocity. It is like just 10 minutes drive away if without traffic jam.
#NewToilet kind curiosity so we paid a visit there this weekend. After all it isn’t that far, so why not hehe. The crowd is quite manageable, no long queue or overwhelming scene in any of the shops, restaurants or cafes.
5 floors in total, with Village Grocer, Parkson, Spotlight, GSC Cinema as anchor brand at different floor.
Food is our main attention, because we might come here quite often to settle our dinner. LOL. More options other than IKEA food court now. Many familiar cafes & restaurants, such as Boat Noodle, BMS Organics, Little Fat Duck, Sushi Jiro, Subway, The Chicken Rice Shop, Simply Penang, Starbucks ….
…Nando’s, Ayam Penyet, Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert, Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart, Komugi, TGI Friday, Rakuzen, Sukiya, Mr. Dakgalbi, Arashi Shabu Shabu, Wong Kok Char Chan Teng, La Juiceria, Boost Juice Bar…
..also our favourites like Bari Uma, Kodawari Menya Udon, ParaThai, Paradise Dynasty, Sushi Zanmai, KyoChon1991, I Love Yoo and so forth.
Dessert and snacks are noteworthy too. Local famous softserve ice cream – Softsrve is setting up a new kiosk here after Pavilion Elite.
Softree ice cream all the way from Korea. Sadly, it was very quiet when we passed by.
Street Churros, another popular street snack from Korea.
Family Mart is here as well..
Fashion tenants doesn’t bring much surprise. High street brands – H&M, Zara, Charles & Keith, Cotton On, Terranova, Uniqlo, Padini, Vincci, Mango continue to expand into latest shopping malls.
Good to see Daiso, MUJI, YUBISO, BEST, Elements by HOME-FIX on lifestyle, home & living list of of MyTown Cheras.
Let’s walk to the entrance and see what’s out there.
Bazaar! Stalls selling clothes, accessories, handicrafts and food truck filling up the opened space.
Sunken Garden, great spot for Instagram-expert haha but have no idea how to frame it. Can sit and chill around, enjoy cold breeze in the evening.
MyTown Kuala Lumpur is linked to IKEA Cheras, can be accessed from indoor. Just follow the signage along the walkway at Ground floor to reach.
Tadaa…. IKEA is somewhere near to Juice Works.
Food Empire, aka the food court is at the highest floor. Yong Tau Foo, Chicken Rice, Sandwich, Japanese Bento, Teppanyaki, Malaysia famous local food like Char Koay Teow, Curry Mee stalls occupying the place. Nice ambience, clean and spacious. There’s even a cafe like corner with plenty of natural light, ceiling-to-floor window overlooking…erm…the competitor —- Sunway Velocity. Hahaha.
Many shops are not opened yet. Looking forward for more interesting tenants in coming months.
Overall comment: Personally, we like both MyTown and Sunway Velocity. But MyTOWN has brighter, better design. Shopping opportunity wise, brands we came across, so far, quite similar with Sunway Velocity but of course, choices still can’t beat other pioneer shopping malls like One Utama, Mid Valley, Pavilion KL and so forth. Probably more retails will join in in future for more exciting shopping experience (*yay, we really look forward to this =D). For food, not too bad, as there’s our favourite restaurants like Bari Uma, Kodawari Menya Udon, Absolute Thai, Palsaik Korean BBQ. And ya, we like their Sunken Garden located outside the mall. Parking is currently FREE but the parking rate will be RM3 per hour, RM30 maximum per day (*OMG) in future, as seen on MyTown website here.
