Since its opening in Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall last year, Hana Dining Sake Bar has been constantly surprised us with their exquisite, fine modern Japanese food in affordable price. From special set menu, healthy lunch rice bowl to newly revamped menu launched from June 2016 onwards, we saw some changes in Hana dishes, towards better, with improvement to satisfy customers’ tastebud.
Hana Dining Sake Bar new 2016 menu starts with something exciting – Tapas the Japanese way. There are 10 items to choose from, specially crafted by chef using both classic and premium ingredients.
Diners can choose to have 5 Classic Tapas, namely Kaisen Shiso Kushi (Seafood Skewer with Shiso Sauce RM24), Tako Hourensou (Bamboo Spinach topped with Octopus Slice RM20), Gindara Miso Yaki (Roasted Cod Fish with Red Miso Sauce RM26), Age Gindara Imo (Crispy Cod Fish layered with Sweet Potato) and Soft Shell Crab Tapas (Crispy Soft Shell Crab with Lettuce RM24) in ala-carte..
…Or enjoy different types of tapas by ordering 2 Persons and 3 Persons set. This is highly recommended for couple or patrons who visit Hana in small group and wish to savour more dishes in-one-go. For 2 persons, choose 3 Classic tapas (2 pieces each) at only RM35, while for RM50, guests can choose 3 types of Classic Tapas (3 pieces each)
The next 5 Tapas are Luxury Tapas, a series which incorporated more lavish ingredients like Foie Gras and Japanese Uni to please. Tenshi Ebi (Angel Prawn Wrap with Marinated Vege RM30), Engawa Uni Spicy Mentaiko RM36), Daikon Foie Gras (Seared Foie Gras on Marinated Winter Raddish), Hotate Uni Toryufu (Scallop topped with Sea Urchin & Truffle Pastr RM36) and Uni Tofu (Sea Urchin and Sesame Tofu Consomme RM36).
Similarly, diners can opt for Luxury Tapas Combo which is priced at RM70 for 2 persons, RM100 for 3 persons. Our favourite goes to Daikon Foie Gras. Pan-seared Foie Gras, having rich, buttery flavour balanced up with marinated raddish burst in juiciness once biting through.
Following the Tapas, Hana Dining Sake Bar has a sufficient list of sashimi – Toro, Salmon, Maguro, Kanpachi, Tai, Hotategai, Ama Ebi, Uni or Sashimi Moriawase that placed assorted sashimi together. However, what interest us more is Gobou Karaage on their Appetizer menu. Something that you don’t see in every Japanese restaurant. It is actually deep fried burdock, crispy with addictive texture like French Fries, but more chewy.
Wafu Salad RM25
A bed of fresh garden vegetables, fruits and seafood topped with Japanese style dressing.
Hokkaido Cawanmushi RM15
Now this Hokkaido Cawanmushi scores beyond our expectation, in terms of price, ingredients used and taste. Smooth, delicate steamed egg custard, brimming with crab, prawn, scallop, further heaped with generous amount of salmon roe at only RM15 per pertion!
Jumbo Soft Shell Crab Futomaki RM32
Next up, Makimono. When Hana named it Jumbo, they mean it. Our Jumbo Soft Shell Crab Futomaki was really huge in portion. Soft shell crab, julienne cucumber, fish roe and Japanese rice, all wrapped into a large traditional roll. Double the size of your usual maki. Ideal for sharing.
Tempura Mango Cheese Maki RM40
A more trendy maki roll with shrimp roe, tempura prawn, mango rolled within seaweed sheet, plus a slice of cheese on top, garnished with bonito flakes. Interesting combination, plenty of flavours.
Hana Dining Sake Bar menu is clearly extensive. Apart from what we had sampled, you may also check out also some other delicacies such as Kushiyaki Moriawase (6 skewers at RM35), Nabe-mono, Age-mono, Teppanyaki, Menrui, Gohan Rice bowl, Takikomi Rice Set, Bento, Grilled Fish Set and not to forget, dessert. Omakese Course is on the list too, and you will be surprised with the high-quality food served, worth every penny that you pay.
