Tampopo Cafe, a new neighbourhood cafe in Bandar Manjalara Kepong KL. Just two doors away from Mille Caffe, near to Taman Tasik Menjalara. The cafe caught our heart with their lovely Zakka-style shop front with interior in soft tones, putting together washed woods in light colour, washed out white and pastel green for dreamy finish. A design that reminds us about Hinz Kafe which is few streets away from Tampopo.
During weekdays, set lunch at only RM12.90 maybe the highlights here. But on weekends, a leisure breakfast in the morning turns worthwhile in Tampopo Cafe with special weekend set selections such as Tampopo’s Big Breakfast, Pancake Set, Kid’s Happy Meal, Smoked Salmon Set and Classic Breakfast Set. Saw the Pancake Set served in “breakfast in bed wooden tray” from Instagram after our visit. So nice! Will try out next time.
Mushroom Aglio Olio RM16.90
For this time, we only had Spaghetti Mushrom Aglio Olio from the savoury food menu, as Summergirl wasn’t feeling well. Pretty decent pasta tossed in with garlic goodness, aroma of olive oil and medium in spiciness. A bit too garlicky for our liking though.
Other choices on Tampopo Cafe menu includes Mesclum Salad, Japanese Tonkatsu Sandwich, Smoked Duck Sandwich, Trio Bruchesta, Pesto Mushroom pasta, Spaghetti Bacon Mushroom Aglio Olio, Bacon Mushroom Cream Sauce Pasta, Pumpkin Soup, Chicken Wings, French Fries, Pumpkin Wedges, Onion Rings and more. Diners looking for heavier main courses can go for Fish & Chips, BBQ Pork Belly Ribs, Sausage Platter, Smoked Duck Soba with Sesame Dressing, Roast Chicken with Red Wine Mushroom Sauce, Chicken Gordon Bleu. Mostly Western delight, reasonably priced within RM30.
Sweet Potato Mont Blanc RM14.90
Dessert is something that Tampopo Cafe proud of. They make their own French pastries, using the best ingredients they can source on. Hennessy Cognac Chocolate Banana ( RM18.90) is the best seller, a semi sphere, alcohol-infused cake filled with banana and chocolate mousse, infused with Hennessy, more chocolate at the outer layer plus a glossy finish. Not in the mood for Chocolate, so we went for the Sweet Potato Mont Blanc, which also receives positive feedback from customers.
Sponge cake as the base, with a layer of cream in the middle, topped off with swirls ans swirls of purple sweet potato puree. Can be slightly sweet for us, so best to go with a cup of tea or coffee to balance up the overall sweetness. If stomach allowed, we hope to try out few other cakes – Fudge Brownies, Dutch Apple Pie, Pavlova, Cappuccino Cheese Cake, Lemon Meringue Cheese Cake, all beautifully presented and looks good.
Latter RM11
Overall, a charming cafe that deserves a notice for their homemade desserts. We love their pastel colour furnishing that exudes a soothing, calm ambiance, making it an ideal location for those who want a quiet, undisturbed weekend brunch.
