As 2024 draws to a close, EQ – Kuala Lumpur’s number 1 hotel has planned a year-end of culinary experiences and opportunities for every level of get-togethers, from intimate festive teas for two to the opportunity to host a party within a party. The award-winning property which enjoyed an unprecedented year in the number of international accolades it has collected, is living up to its many plaudits in the lengths it has gone to curate extraordinary festive experiences while also carrying on a decades-long tradition of remembering the less privileged during the Christmas season.
The Angel Tree initiative has been an annual event since the inception of EQ’s predecessor, Hotel Equatorial. Each year alongside the property’s Christmas tree is a smaller one dedicated to the gifting programme. Tags bearing names and ages of children from Shelter Home are hung from the Angel Tree for guests to choose. A simple minimum cash donation can be made or purchase the gift for the child of the home, turning it into an EQ staff who will then deliver it during a hotel sponsored Christmas party for these children.
In the same spirit of festive cheer, EQ has also planned for visits from Santa in the hotel on 24 (7PM to 8.30PM) and 25 (12.30PM to 4PM) December 2024 alongside special carollers within the same time period who will charm guests and diners partaking of the hotel’s special Yuletide offerings.

General Manager of EQ, Gerard Walker notes that the hotel is one of the first in Kuala Lumpur to roll out its year-end offerings. This, he says, is because the pace of city life necessitates longer range planning, especially when taking in consideration the differing schedules of guests. “The pace of city life is hectic, and many things can slip one’s mind. Having all our options out early helps our guests to plan their holiday meals and get togethers so that everything has been squared away before the year-end rush at work hits. As people in hospitality we know how important this festive period is to many, and EQ wants to assure guests that we are happy to take on the role of ‘Santa’s little helpers’ when it comes to planning something special,” shares the Australian hotelier. EQ’s annual holiday catalogue Holiday Spirit is available for download from the hotel website for easy reference to the dining promotions, food gift options and on-property events.
