Pandan Indah Fish Head Noodles – a famous fish head noodles patronized mostly by those staying nearby, a true hidden gem in KL, for decades.
Was Google-ing about where to have the best fish head noodles in Kuala Lumpur last weekend evening, and came across Fish Head Noodle Pandah Indah, located in Pandan Indah, as it is named. The stall is situated in the housing area with less foot traffic, not along the shop rows that houses the popular Thong Kee Kopitiam, Omega Pork Noodles; neither Kin Kin Pan Mee side. If you are not familiar with the area, just Waze for Medan Selera Pandan Indah, the shop is inside the food court – that is rather new, and clean.
We arrived at 10.30AM on a Sunday morning. Half occupied, mainly coming for the fish head noodles. There is also one stall selling staple food like roti, tosai, and Nasi Kandar.
To order, tell the staff your table number (so that they know which table to send your food to), then pick your choice of noodles – mi xian, mee hoon, or yellow noodles. The best-seller is definitely the deep fried fish pieces noodle, you can also opt for other seafood like pomfret, sotong, prawn, and fish balls. If you are not sure which one to have, just point to the menu picture printed on the counter.
Our noodles came in a jiffy, despite the crowd. Had Fried Fish Head Noodles with Mee Hoon, and Fried Fish Head & Fish Balls with Mi Xian. RM9 and RM12 respectively. We did ask the staff if there’s any choice of deep fried fish head only, she said it is all the same for fried fish order, a mix of fish pieces.
A sip on the soup, we found it lack of depth, taste on the light side. Or maybe, overpowered by evaporated milk. Couldn’t judge further as we didn’t order the clear soup version. Despite so, we still enjoyed the noodles as it is very comforting. just the right choice to warm up the tummy for breakfast. Portion is just nice, and they are generous with the deep fried fish – large pieces, golden brown crispiness.
Overall, taste wise – normal, but glad that the delicious fish head save the entire bowl of noodles. A pretty good place for quick breakfast/lunch fix, or when you have sudden craving for fish head noodles and happen to be nearby.
