SunSan Bake Taman Shanghai – a beautiful house-turned-into-cafe, where the spirit of Little People continues, for good, or to say, for better. Come for the freshly bake goodness and coffee, stay for the sunshine filled space.
Located off Old Klang Road, SunSan Bake Cafe is renovated from a bungalow unit, breathing new life to the architecture with a makeover that put together the old and new.
Plenty of wooden elements, yellow and beige tone furnishing along with clever use of dark colored finishes in just the minimal, right ratio for matching contrast. Some of the retro, classic elements like the tiles, vent, ornamented balcony, are incorporated for the modern-vintage feel.
Love how they make use of the retro balcony at the first floor to create a centerpiece, very nice in whole when looking from the outside, together with green lawn.
Come by in the morning if possible, to enjoy the calm, tranquil moments with sunlight shinning through the windows. #ChasingLight time that a photographer like Summerkid truly loves.
SunSan Bake menu comprises of sweet and savory series. You can enjoy from Creamy Corn Soup to Signature Black Truffle with Eggs, Sunshine Breakfast, Morning Affair Kouign Amann, Eggs & Mushrooms on Japanese Shokupan, Angus Pulled Beef Sandwich, Grilled Cheese Sandwich, Sourdough with Matche Duo. Apple Turnover, Croissant, Shokupan, Kouign Amann, Spicy Ham Cheese, Cheese & Pepper in Cross Laminated Pastry, etc. are available too. To keep up with the philosophy of SunSan Bake – a bakery inspired by Sun, the kitchen uses only the freshest and locally sourced ingredients.
SunSan Blend of the month is used for coffee. You can also opt for single origin, with additional few bucks to it. For hand brew, enjoy seasonal filter coffee with beans pick like Ethiopia Banko Gotit G1 Natural, Costa Rice Los Naranjes Black Honey, Panama Boquete SHB Natural ASD, Guatamale Santa Felicia SL 28 Natural; as well as Compatition Series Coffee – Longboard Mistry Mountain Natural 2022, Best of Pannama GW4 2023, Santa Maria Geisha Washed 2023.
While the coffee is great as usual, the Morning Affair, that we ordered is slightly below expectation. Layering rocket salads, housecured salmon, whipped ricotta, house-pickles on Kouign Amann, the whole dish, at the price of RM32, looks really pretty, taste wise ok, just the Kouign Amann – hmmm, have room of improvement. We did feedback to the kitchen and they told us that they are still testing on the new oven, adjusting the ideal temperature and so forth for their pastry. Understandable. Perhaps will give a second try to it when we are nearby again next round.
