Malaysia market has shown an increased demand for Japanese wagyu beef in the past few years, with more Japanese Wagyu specialty restaurants popping up in town, be it for yakiniku, shabu-shabu, sushi or omakase; not to mention occasional wagyu related promotions from various dining spots and hotels.
We recently visited Gyutaro Yakiniku – a modern style Japanese Yakiniku Restaurant that serves premium, halal-certified wagyu beef. They have two outlets – one in Publika Solaris Dutamas, and another one in Damansara Uptown Petaling Jaya.
What makes Gyutaro Yakiniku stand out many wagyu restaurants in town is, the establishment is currently the only Japanese Yakiniku restaurant in Kuala Lumpur that serves the 3 top branded A5 Japanese wagyu, namely Omi Hime, Hida Shichiri, and Miyazaki. Together with the rare cuts and extensive A5 wagyu choices on Gyutaro Yakiniku menu, this gives diners an exceptional experience in every bite, truly memorable.
To add-on to the restaurant’s uniqueness, Gyutaro Yakiniku offers an array of delectable dipping sauce, which can be personalized base on your palate preference. They also have a secret sauce that elevates the flavours of grilled meat- prepared by knowledgeable chef, who has over 30 years of working experience serving Yakiniku.
Diners can choose to sample either of these top 3 Japanese A5 wagyu, or enjoy all in one go by ordering Gyutaro Mori. RM380++ for 180gram, premium cut, awesome marbling. You can make your yakiniku session merrier by adding seafood including hotate (scallop), ebi( King prawn), salmon, ika (squid), chicken, lamb, vegetables. Binchotan or white charcoal is used to create a high grilling temperature.
Omi Hime Wagyu Beef – known as “Princess,” is considered one of the top three in Japan along with Kobe beef and Matsusaka. It is the first wagyu brand in Japan with a history of over 400 years. Known for its fine-grained marbling that gives the meat a slightly sweet flavor.
Shichiri Hida beef – the top-quality beef from Gifu, produced in limited quantities. Its snow-like marbling network makes it one of the best wagyu, imparting a unique juiciness throughout various cuts, not only penetrates the tender steaks cut from the loin but is also weaved throughout other cuts, including the shoulder (chuck), hindquarter (flank), and rear leg (round).
Miyazaki Wagyu A5- Miyazakigyu is a highly sought-after wagyu beef that originates from Miyazaki Prefecture and is produced from Japanese Black cattle. The beef is renowned for its snowflake-like marbling, which adds to its succulent and tender texture. To qualify as Miyazakigyu, the cattle must be born and raised in Miyazaki and have won several prestigious awards, including the “Wagyu Olympics” in 2007 and 2012,
Apart from a wide selections of wagyu beef brands and special cuts, Gyutaro Yakniku also churns out substantial choices such as Kara Udon, Kaisen Chige, Seafood Chige Udon, Ishiyaki Yakiniku Ricce, Ishiyaki Bibinba, Gyudon Beef Rice, Japanese Curry Rice..
As well as addictive snack like Boxing Fried Chicken, Beef Tongue Stew, Curry Cheese Wagyu Hambagu, Beef Muscle Meat Stew, Kimchi Pancake, Spicy Fried Chicken Wings, Gyutaro Cheese Karaage to go with.
Overall, a wonderful yakiniku experience, but at the same time make us miss Hida more. Can’t wait to go back to Japan, but also feeling grateful that we can sample high quality Japanese beef right in Malaysia now without travelling far. Haha.
