Friday night, date night. Glad to discover a really nice restaurant named Ferria, located opposite to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, just a few steps from The Starhill Gallery.
Newly opened in 2023, what makes Ferria KL unique is its luxe rainforest-theme, that welcomes diners with curated lush greeneries, right from the entrance.
You would feel like you have been transported into a tropical rainforest, surrounded by captivating plants and matching decorations, alongside with bold, colourful design that creates a modern contemporary look.
We visited during dinner time, so the ambience leans towards relaxed mood, with pop songs and music that will boost your mood, but certainly not noisy. If you love natural-light-filled vibes, we suggest you to swing by for lunch. We believe the space will be whole lot nicer for photography during daytime.
For food, Ferria menu offers from the freshest seafood to carefully sourced meat and poultry, prepared using cutting-edge technique; flourishing with seasonal and vibrant ingredients to bring you the best of a grill bar.
We began our meals with appetizers from Wet The Palatte section. Jungle Jewel (RM26) – when we thought how special a corn dish could be, we were wrong. It is pretty WOW especially on the pleasing smokiness anf aromatic chicken lard bites, adding dimension to the sweet, juicy peark corn kernels. Highly recommended.
Untamed Seared Tuna Salad (RM34) is a light, refreshing starter in sesame soy dressing, even Summergirl can finish the whole bowl on her own. Japanese tuna loin gives extra texture, but blame ourselves for taking pictures too long so it turned become a bit hard.
Thanks to the staff for recommending Ocean French Oyster. Very fresh, better with Amazonian Tosazu Sauce served along. RM138 for half dozen. Count ourselves lucky as these oysters aren’t available everyday.
Amazon Chicken (RM50), Lamb Croissie (RM46)
As Ferria is famous for their grill, do not leave without trying on or two of their grill items, featuring from Live Canadian Lobster to Atlantic Cod, XKL River Monster, Lamb Croissie, Aussie Wagyu, Amazon Chicken, Rocky Wild Chicken, Majestic A5 Japanese Wagyu, Roaring Flare Lamb Rack.
Sample XL River Monster Roll (RM88) from the list, also one of the signatures in Ferria KL. Giant Freshwater Prawn meat, generously stuffed with soft, fluffy homemade milk brioche. With crispy French Bean by the side.
Tripe Cooked Hand Cut Fries RM25
While we prefer the triple cook fries at Mailard more, this one at Ferria is decent too, great to go with a glass of mocktail or cocktail. Zucchini Fries (RM20) on the other hands, is our favourite. Seriously addictive, flavoured up with Wasabi Mayo.
When we saw the woodfire oven pizza, we know pizza here is gonna be good, puffed up in glory in the fire. Can’t wait to try. No regret getting this Wild-spiced Lamb (RM50) – delicious. Eat while it is hot to enjoy the crunchy yet stretchy, beautifully brown crust with charred blisters around the edge; chewy pull filled with grilled lamb, toum garlic spread and cheese. Thumbs up. If you are not into lamb, they also have a choice of Forest Mushroomo Zucchini Pizza, Sea Creature Arrabiata Pizza, Salted Egg & Beef Pastrami Pizza, Blue Cheese & Wild Chicken Pizza.
Need more substantial dishes? Tarzan Arrabiata (RM68) and Oceanic Olio (RM103) will not dissapoint. The former is red sauce base, while the latter is aglio-olio style. Just, both are quite spicy, tongue-burning. If you can’t take spicy food, perhaps you can request to tune down the spiciness.
There are only two desserts available on Ferria test-run menu, but great enough to end the meal sweet. Summergirl likes the Grilled Crystal Pineapple with Coconut Ice Cream and Vanilla Butter Crumble (RM26), but for the Wild Expedition Tiramisu (RM23), would be better if the texture could be softer, more spongy.
Ferria KL has a long beverage list, ranging from mocktail to cocktail, juices, coffee, beer, wine, whisky, champagne, bourbon, brandy, tequila, gin, rose, etc. Sampled 4 drinks, which are Wild Wild Passion, Rainforest Breeze, Forest Asam and Amazing Green. All four pairing well with the savory. RM25 per glass.
Add this place into your to-eat pocket list when in Bukit Bintang area. A nice restaurant for both local and tourists – thanks to the convenient Bukit Bintang MRT station. Suitable for casual dining, romantic celebration, birthday gathering, events, etc. Happy birthday song was repeatedly sang few times for the night we visited.
