Malam Warisan Melayu at The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur this year celebrates the rich taste and diverse flora, with a variety of iconic local herbs and flowers growing in our tropical climate. Apart from the beauty, some of these herbs and flowers can actually be incorporated as fresh ingredients in cooking – a wreath of flavour and nutrition that has been cherished by Malaysian for centuries.
So, get ready to embark on a buffet feast of Malaysian cuisine to explore the unique taste of our local herbs and flowers – as they are creatively transformed into an array of heart-warming dishes made know by each of the 14 states around Malaysia.
Executive Sous Chef Azizi Taslim and his team of talented chefs will be featuring herbs and flowers such as Hibuscus (Bunga Raya), Papaya Flower (Bunga Betik), Torch Ginger Flower (Bunga Kantan), Roselle (Bunga Roselle), Banana Blossom (Jantung Pisang) and more in the sumptuous buffet. Some of the must-try highlights are Kampung Baru “Kambing Golek” Slow-Roasted Grass-Fed Whole Australian Spring Lamb marinated with Yoghurt and Roselle Flower, Melaka “Asam Pedas” Sour and Spicy Snapper Fish Stew with Lady Finger and “Daun Kesum” Vietnamese Coriander, Kelantan Roasted “Percik” Chicken with “Kencur” Aromatic Ginger, Perak Signature Short Ribs “Rendang Tok” with “Tongkat Ali” Long Jack, Negeri Sembilan Spicy Coconut Gravy “Masak Lemak Itik Salai”.
Other delicacies we sampled in The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur’s Malam Warisan Melayu Buffet 2023 include Terengganu Tiger Prawn with Bunga Kantan, Penang Lamb Shank Curry Mamak with “Tongkat Ali”, Sarawak Sour Broth Prawn River with “Temulawak”, Kelantan Smoked Red Snapper with Coconut, Bunga Putat, Green Chili & Kerisisk, Johor Nasi Briyani Gum with Raisin “Inai” & Cashew Nut, Negeri Sembilan Mambau Daging Salai Tulang Rawan, Perlis Laksa, Pahang Green Mussel Berlado “Misai Kucing”.
Kerabu Special series here are our favorite too. Beautifully made, different from the usual ones we had from other buffet.
