Take a Bow – now serving dinner, at The Sphere, Bangsar South. Take a Bow is actually a new venture by the team behind the famous dessert cafe in KL – Sunbather Coffee, that has outlet in Bangsar South and Petaling Street area.
Visited Take a Bow Bangsar South when they first opened, and had a pretty good experience with their specialty coffee. The cafe focuses mainly on breakfast and lunch earlier, but has recently extend their business hour till 10PM, launching brand new dinner menu too.
So now apart from laid-back menu featuring brunch favorites, seasonal lunches, indulgent treats for afternoon tea, you can also enjoy heartwarming dinner plates at Take a Bow.
Take a Bow dinner menu draws inspiration from continental cafes, highlights on modern multicultural take on British classics and European staples. From handmade pie to comforting soups, savory mains, handmade pasta, there’s surely a dish that will catch your heart.
Handmade, baked fresh upon order Classic Fish Pie RM48
Summergirl is always a pie person. All pies in Take a Bow are handmade, freshly baked upon order, so do be patient and allow 20minutes of waiting time. But it is certainly worth the wait. When we tucked into the warmth, creamy fish pie generously loaded with salmon, smoked haddock, prawn, peas, parsley, topped with potato mash, parmesan – it is just so satisfying. Served with buttered vegetables. It might look simple, but very filling.
They also have Hot Chick Pie, Mozzarella Beef Pie, Black Pepper Lamb Pot Pie, Chicken & Mushroom Pot Pie, Beef & Blue Cheese Pot Pie.
Duck Ragu Pappardelle with carrot, orange & cinnamon, parmesan RM36
Moving on we had a Duck Ragu Pappardelle, which we both agreed that it is the best dish of the night. Pasta is handmade, fresh, thickly coated with intensely flavourful sauce, cooked with carrot, orange & cinnamon, parmesan.
Slow-braised beef brisket served with creamy corn polenta, grilled asparagus, brown butter RM48
For Scrummy Mains, Take a Bow offers option like Chicken Roulade with Asparagus, herbed mozzarella, red cabbage casserole; Seafood Cioppino with local fish, squid, prawns, mussels, potato cubes, served with toasted sourdough; Bigos hunter’s stewed with smoked chicken, chicken thigh, juniper berry, prune, porcini, sauerkraut, served in country loaf bread basket; Slow-braised beef brisket served with creamy corn polenta, grilled asparagus, brown butter; slow-roasted balsamic lamb shoulder; fish & chips with deep fried Ikan Tenggiri, zucchini & peas, ricotta, lemon confit; and Lavender rosemary chicken leg, beetroot pearl barley risotto, just to name a few.
Salt Beef (120gram) with gherkins and mustard RM30
Ordered a portion of salt beef too. Still learning to appreciate the taste of Salt Beef but we love the flavours combination of the meat with mellow-peppery mustard and crunchy-sweet gherkin.
Tiramisu Cloud with mascarpone, marsale, espresso-soaked sponge, cocoa RM29
Neapolitan Semifreddo with fresh peach compote RM28
Do not leave without trying the signature desserts at Take a Bow. We really wanted to have the Rose-poached pear with chocolate sauce but sadly it was sold out that day. Luckily Tiramisu cloud is still available. Hehe. Soft, melt-in-mouth combi of mascarpone, marsale, espresso-soaked sponge, cocoa. One is never enough.
First try on Neapolitan Semifreddo with fresh peach compote. Light, frozen-mousse texture dessert striped in 3 flavours – peach, fig leaf, caramel. Lovely.
Overall, we had a nice dinner date at Take a Bow. Staffs are very friendly and attentive. Fancy, colorful food presentation is not something to look for here, but the effort of having quality, fresh ingredients being put together to create nice, classic dishes. Price wise, it is on medium-average (*some might find the price on the high side), but considering the location and quality ingredients, it is still acceptable. We personally recommend the handmade pies and pasta – must try.
