Titiwangsa Wang Kopitiam, a KL breakfast spot located just few minutes drive from Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, serving local Chinese street food under big trees.
We didn’t manage to dine-in during our first visit. It was a Sunday morning, around 10AM. The kopitiam was full house with a short queue. We were so hungry that time, and decided to leave for breakfast at other places. We returned again few months later, on our weekday off day, keeping finger crossed that we could have our brunch there. Considered ourselves lucky, as there was still few parking lots when we arrived, and plenty of seat available. Maybe it is a norm for weekday. So a small tip: Visit on a weekday, preferably before the lunch crowd began to build up. Or else, you have to get up rather early if it is weekend.
Titiwangsa Wang Kopitiam menu is rather straightforward – noodles, snacks and drinks. Order your choice of noodles, accompany the meal with hard-to-go-wrong snacks, wash down with herbal tea, kopi peng, or Chinese tea. There are four types of noodles, namely Signature Zha Jiang Noodle, Wanton Noodle Soup, Curry Noodle and Signature Wanton Noodle.
Signature Zha Jiang Noodle (RM8) – the star dish in Titiwangsa Wang Kopitiam. Like an Asian version of Bolognese pasta to us. Springy noodles, tossed in the kopitiam’s special sauce that is so flavourful, laced with subtle sweetness. Topped with generous amount of minced meat, and Zhu Yao Zhar! Comes with a side of wantan in soup. The portion looks small, but it could be quite full when you finished everything. Wanted to have Wanton Noodle too but we couldn’t have that much food at one time. Will definitely return and check it out.
Curry Noodles (RM8) tastes just alright to us. Rich, packed a punch, hearty portion with char siew, wantan, tau fu pok and chilli paste for that extra ‘oomph’. We still prefer the curry mee at our usual favorite place Jia Li Mian Noodle House @ Pandan Jaya.
Snacks are must-try here. We were surprised at how good these little side dishes are, at least for both the Deep Fried Dumpling(RM11) and Braised Chicken Feet with Mushroom (RM7) that we ordered. So delicious we were looking forward to return for other snacks available. Freshly deep fried to golden brown, these dumpling are crunchy at the outside, wrapped with generous, juicy meat filling – probably one of the best fried dumpling we had had in KL so far. Same goes to the Braised Chicken Feet – slow-cooked, deeply flavoured. Tofu Pok, Fish Cake, Signature Fried Tofu, Pepper & Salt Chicken Chop, Fried Wantan, Loh Bak, Thai Style Prawn Roll, are popular items here too.
Our bill at Titiwangsa Wang Kopitiam came close to RM36 including a glass of Kopi Peng. Satisfying local brunch meal. Highly recommend Deep Fried Dumpling and Braised Chicken Feet.
