YAKINIKU SIZZLE, Japanese Wagyu Yakiniku specialist by the renowned YAKINIQUEST Singapore, has now opened at Gourmet Food Street Lalaport BBCC, Bukit Bintang.
Borne out of pure passion and pursuit of the ultimate Japanese yakiniku dining experience nearly 20 years ago, YAKINIQUEST is proud to bring the casual extension of its brand, YAKINIKU SIZZLE by YAKINIQUEST, to Kuala Lumpur’s shores at Lalaport BBCC – representing its foray into Malaysia after almost a decade of operating its Singapore outlet.
What makes YAKINIKU SIZZLE by YAKINIQUEST unique is, origins of the restaurant can be traced back to nearly two decades ago in Tokyo, Japan, when Mr and Mrs Ishida and their three friends – all fervent dining enthusiasts with an insatiable appetite for yakiniku – convened with a sole mission to uncover and document some of the most exquisite yakiniku dining experiences across the country. Together they conquered the menus of more than 2,000 of such specialty restaurants over the span of 15 years, with each experience meticulously documented online at yakiniquest.com, a site well recognised by the Japanese foodie community, gaining immense publicity over the years through various media formats including television.
The Ishidas later gave up their careers at an esteemed Japanese advertising agency to set up their very own yakiniku restaurant of the same name in Singapore. Soon after YAKINIQUEST was officially launched in 2014, the restaurant quickly grew in popularity among the city state’s epicurean community for its premium grade wagyu beef served omakase (chef’s choice) style, using grilling techniques and cuts refined by the Ishidas after their years of having countless yakiniku meals at thousands of eateries across Japan.
With the launch of YAKINIKU SIZZLE by YAKINIQUEST Lalaport BBCC, the couple now hopes to bring this very same experience to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia – remain dedicated to cultivating an appreciation for the myriad of quality Japanese wagyu cuts and cooking techniques designed to bring out the flavours and essence of the ultimate yakiniku dining experience. And potentially beyond.
YAKINIKU SIZZLE offers two menus, one for lunch and another for dinner. Set lunch menu is certainly price-worthy, offering your choice of meat such as Sizzle Karubi, Sizzle Rosu, Sizzle Uchi Harami, Negi Tongue, Chicken Thigh & Breast along with an all-you-can-eat appetizer buffet, Japanese rice, miso soup and desserts. While for dinner menu, it is ala-carte and more extensive. Enjoy from Yakiniku Platter, Namul, Temaki Hand-Roll Sushi, Rice, Noodle, Soup and Dessert.
Begin the meal with Yakiniku Sizzle Signature Assorted 6 Namul (RM48), a vegetable dish seasoned with sesame oil, soy sauce, salt, etc. Love the range they have, putting together Bean Sprout Namul, Daikon Radish Namul, Komatsuna Namul, Avocado Namul, Mushroom Namul, Eggplant Namul.
Next up, specialty Wagyu beef air-flown from Japan that dominates the dinner Japanese Yakiniku menu, featuring beautifully marbled cuts such as gyutan (beef tongue), rosu (chuck) and karubi (short rib). Mr Ishida advises diners to savour these cuts of meats in this exact order to optimise their palates’ enjoyment of the various flavour and textures that Wagyu has to offer. A choice of 150g, 300g or 450g platter.
You can also opt for individual portion of Wagyu Rosu, which is the less fatty portion of genuine Japanese Wagyu or, Wagyu Karubi – the fatty potion of genuine Japanese wagyu. They also have Special Wagyu Yakiniku available at limited quantity, like rare cut of Misuji and this Signature Yakisuki (RM68/ pc).
Precious Japanese A5 wagyu striploin with amazing marbling, lightly grilled and enjoy with raw egg yolk in sukiyaki sauce. Wonderful. YAKINIKU SIZZLE is quite low profile about the meat. You might not be able to trace the grade of the beef from the menu but rest assured, you are getting one of the best quality ones, such as the Signature Yakisuki that comes with A4 or A5 grade beef.
Wagyu & Kimchi Temaki (RM18)
Wagyu Torotaku Temaki (RM18)
Egg Omelet with Wagyu – Fluffy Japanese egg omelette with simmered wagyu filled within.
Beef Tail Soup, another favorite of ours in Yakiniku Sizzle by YakinikuQuest. Comforting, tummy warming soup that is clean in taste, with extra-tender, almost melt in mouth beef chunks.
Wagyu Aburi Sushi that is getting quite popular in few Japanese Wagyu Yakiniku Restaurant in KL, YAKINIKU SIZZLE is one of them.
The concept is to have thin-slices of wagyu beef lightly grilled, then roll on sushi rice. YAKINIKU SIZZLE’s version is seasoned with salt, pepper and truffle oil, so you get a subtle aroma of truffle that enhance the overall flavours. Just nice, nothing overpowered. Recommended.
Do add this restaurant to your must-visit Japanese Wagyu Yakiniku in KL list!
