The House 忆家食轩 at Desa Sri Hartamas – This thoughtfully designed, newly opened noodle restaurant is such a real hidden gem in KL.
Came across The House 忆家食轩 (YiJiaShiXuan) on our way to our favourite Japanese restaurant Shakariki 432 Sake Dining for dinner few days ago. Have a quick read on their website and we said: “We shall give this place a try.” So here we were, on a Saturday for lunch. The House 忆家食轩is located one floor above the famous Don Don Korean BBQ Restaurant. Just take the staircases right next to it.
Opening up the menu, the first thought that came into our mind was – the price is on the high side for a bowl of noodle. But after trying it out, there’s no regret. Food here is worth the price we paid for, judging from the quality, and location.
The House specializes in Hakka-style hand-pulled noodles, made in small batches using chef’s secret recipes. Chewy, fragrant and healthy. Currently, there are 7 noodle items on the menu, 2 soup noodles, 5 dry noodles option – The House Specialty, Scallion Homemade Dried Noodle, Seafood Hawaiian Noodle, Broil Beef Noodle Soup, Chinese Rice Wine Noodle, Si Chuan Ma La Dried Noodle, Fiery Dried Noodle.
Personally, we recommend the Chinese Rice Wine Noodle (RM28.90). Heart-warming chinese rice wine soup, so flavourful at every sip. Topped with chicken, black fungus, goji berries and generous amount of Bentong ginger. Portion wise, it is alright for small eater like us. You might want to add more noodles if you have bigger appettite.
While for the Fiery Dried Noodle (RM19.90) – Noodles topped with mushroom, anchoviews, minced pork, pork lard, vegetables, egg and homemade chilli condiment. Squeeze in the calamansi juice for a touch of citrusy, then mix everything together for best flavours. Not too spicy, pack a punch.
Soup boiled for 6-8 hours, another worthwhile part for The House. Other than that, The House Desa Sri Hartamas also offers a small selection of snacks, such as Butterfly Dumplings, 3 Flavours Fried Beancurd, Crispy Bacon Enoki, Golden Nugget and Treasure Chest.
Overall, a nice noodle house. Don’t mind returning to try out their Seafood Hawaiian Noodle and Broil Beef Noodle. We believe these two would be real good stuff too. Just ont thing to note: Probably they are still new, so it happened that we had difficulties communicate with their staffs. But they are really friendly, kind and helpful. So maybe body language would help, in the meantime.
