Curio Dark, a brand new concept by Curio Coffee Roaster & Cafe is now brewing at The Grange @ Ampwalk Kuala Lumpur
Curio Coffee Roaster & Cafe, one of our favourite cafes in Rivercity has revealed the “dark side” of their new venture, welcoming Curio Dark at The Grange, Ampwalk’s newly revamped lifestyle hub. The entrance is kept slightly mysterious. But if you pay a little attention, it is not hard to spot where is it.
If you came from the mall, with Fox Paradox on your right, then look for the staircases on your left, hidden by some potted plants. You’ll see a small sign of Curio over your head. Walk down the staircases and get ready be welcomed by a beautiful outdoor seating, like backyard patio, with pathway.
Push the door in and we felt like we got instantly transported to another space – from greyish tone to all black, a theme that lives up to the name of the cafe. Really like the unique concept of Curio’s new cafe. Dark but lively, sleek design, with clever installation of lighting to set the mood. Very different from Curio Coffee Roaster & Cafe which is more minimalism, in soft white.
Curio Dark menu goes beyond the usual white and black, putting in extra effort in creating a series of Signature Beverage with catchy name, such as the Skyfall 2.0, Moonrise, Silky Black. Each drink takes the limelight with unique ingredient, such as mint, caramel, kefir, match, earl grey, housemade syrup with houseblend. Moonrise is something that we would love to try on next visit, because it is concocted with whiskey, sake and houseblend! Affogato here calls for alcoholic touch too – where kahlua comes in to elevate the taste of this popular desssert.
For non-coffee option, chocolate, matcha latte, tea, kombucha, mocktail, After Eleven Ice Mint Chocolate, Army Green Chocolate & Matcha Latte are available too. Food section is small, but carefully curated. Check out from Back to Basic – homemade yogurt, dried fruit & nuts; to Land & Sea – Calamari, chicken bolognese; Willy Wonka – chocolate waffle, vanilla ice cream; Pop Fiction – peppercone chicken, creamy siracha, maple syrup.
Highly recommend cafe hoppers to drop by when you are in Ampang area. Fox Paradox located next to the mall entrance is worthwhile cafe too. Put two together in one visit, why not?
