Sakanaya Umihiko at J’s Gate Dining, Lot 10 Bukit Bintang – to all Japanese sushi & sashimi lovers, add this to your must-try!
We are truly excited with the opening of Sakanaya Umihiko at Lot 10 J’s Gate Dining (*opposite Osaka Kitchen), a newest restaurant in Bukit Bintang specializes in premium Japanese sushi and sashimi at affordable price. The shop with a cozy setting and Japanese sushi bar is run by the team behind Umihiko Seafood Malaysia, a famous Japanese seafood specialty store that take prides in supplying a varieties of fresh treat from the ocean, 100% directly imported from Japan.
Look at the array of fresh oyster, abalone and uni! We were told that we are lucky, because these beautiful seafood just arrived that day. Didn’t get a reason for not trying.
We had the oysters and they tasted soooo good. Large and plump, lightly flavoured with soy sauce. We can have half a dozen of this each!
Quite an experience to taste uni that is served right after it is opened, because normally uni we have are nicely packed in a box. First try, and we would say it taste is interesting, but not for every body.
Fresh abalone, almost the size of half of our palm. Will keep for next round hehe.
What makes Umihiko Seafood worthwhile is, they bring in freshly caught seafood from different villages around Japan 2 times a week, directly from the fishermen and airflown to Malaysia on the same day. “By cutting out the middlemen, we are able to bring in fresh and reasonably priced seafood for Malaysians to enjoy,” said Mr Marimo, owner and CEO for UmiHiko Seafood.
On top of that, Umihiko Seafood has the know-how in preserving the freshness of the seafood, using Blast Chiller. For a general concept, Blast Chiller is an expensive technology that preserve the quality of the seaood without destroying cells, rapidly releasing -40°C cold air so that cells are instantly pass between -1°C and -5°C – the ice crystal forming temperature zone. Drip is not produced when defrosting, therefore, the quality and taste of frozen food are not compromised. Not many suppliers in Malaysia are using this technology due to its high cost, but in order for customers to enjoy the original taste of Japanese seafood at any time possible, Umihiko has decided to input this in their seafood handling process.
The products offered by Umihiko Seafood are mainly from Hokkaido and Tohoku town. Some of the best seller on Sakanaya Umihiko menu are Hon Maguro Akami, Hon Maguro Chutoro, Kaisen Don, Matsu, Hokke, Komai, Saba Miso Ni, Hon Maguro Don, Hotate Omakase.
