Kyomo KL Desa Sri Hartamas, previously known as Shin Nihon KL is now ready to welcome Japanese yakiniku lovers with their premium wagyu imported from Japan.
Shin Nihon KL, one of the best restaurants for Japanese wagyu charcoal grilled yakiniku in Kuala Lumpur has rebranded as Kyomo KL Japanese Restaurant 今日も , continue to serve Japanese food lovers with premium quality, carefully prepared delicacies.
What’s worthwhile is, Kyomo KL Desa Sri Hartamas now caters more private rooms, expanding from having 17 privates to 31 private rooms. A very thoughtful dining concept, as it provides better privacy in the midst of pandemic, allowing diners to dine with ease and comfort. And we love their new outlet interior! Minimalism, Japanese-inspired design that highlight custom wood fittings, private rooms on both sides of the hallway.
Yakiniku is a must when in Kyomo KL. The restaurant takes pride for a beautiful selection of wagyu beef, imported directly from Japan. Each part of wagyu meats is thoroughly selected by the head chef. For first timer, you can opt for 100g, 200g or 400g ” omakase-style” wagyu, available in an option of Japan wagyu or Australian wagyu.
If you visit in a group of 4-6 persons, we suggest to go for the Premium Wagyu Bridge – a 600g beef platter that put together 5 different cuts of wagyu. Enjoy tender, juicy slices of meat along with some of the popular ala-carte dishes such as Wagyu Tendon Stew, Wagyu Hamburg Steak, Deep Fried Wagyu Tongue, Sweet Potato Chips, Cheese Curry Rice and Beef Ramen; rest assured, you would have a really satisfying Japanese meal.
“Omakase” cut-of-the-day. We were served with Zabuton (Chuck Flap) , Rump, Akami (Lean Cut), Kata Rosu Shin (Chuck Eye Roll Core ) , Tomobara (Brisket).
Kyomo KL uses charcoal for their Yakiniku. Go slow, 2 or 3 pieces a time. Try not to crowd the grill with too many pieces of meat slices at one time.
Buttery, almost melt-in-mouth wagyu beef. Still can’t get over this.
For sauces, try Pink Rock Salt with upper hind shank, lower hink shank, thick flank, eye round, rump, silverside, tenderloin, chateau Briand; while for Homemade Sauce, it is great for chuck eye roll, chuck tender, brisket, chuck flap, sirloin, ribeye, intestine, liver, tripe, omasum.
Premium Wagyu Tongue with Scallions (RM48) is one of our favorites in Kyomo KL too. Grilled to slightly charred at the edges, start by enjoying on its own, then add in squeeze of lemon juice; top some onions & sesame oil for the following piece – you will be amazed at how this little condiments elevates the overall flavours.
Wagyu Tartare Mixed with Avocado RM55 – understand that this might not for everyone due to its concoction, but we really like this. Avocado, raw wagyu, chopped onion, egg yolk, salt base homemade sauce, sesame oil – mix them well and enjoy the lovely creaminess that holds the flavours of every ingredient together.
Thanks to the staff at Kyomo KL for introducing us to these two salad – Kale Salad (RM30) and Coriander Salad (RM25). We don’t think we will ever order this from the menu without recommendation. But guess from now onwards, we’ll have a plate of this salad whenever we visit Kyomo KL, and Kingyu of course.
Both of these salads pairs really well with Yakiniku Beef, like having best of both worlds. Summerkid, who forever will pass over those coriander topping the noodle, had few helping of this Coriander Salad. It is fresh, sweet, accompanied by subtle spicy sesame dressing. Highly recommended.
Kyomo Japanese Restaurant also expand their repertoire of wagyu to appetizers like this Wagyu Tongue Cream Croquette (RM26) – small pieces of Wagyu tongue mixed with creamy sauce, breaded and deep fried to golden brown. Crispy at the outside, burst with creaminess once biting through. Feel the texture contrast, and take a sip of beer – wonderful.
Sweet Potato Chips RM18, addictive chips to munch on in between the meal.
If you want to add-on some substantial dishes, Kyomo KL menu has got you covered. You can order from Charcoal Grilled Premium Wagyu Rice Bowl to Sliced Wagyu Rice Bowl, Wagyu Tongue Rice Bowl, Beef Rice Soup, Cheese Curry Rice, Pickled Plum Rice, Garlic Rice in Hot Stone, Ginger Fried Rice in Hot Stone, Beef Rice Soup in Hot Stone, Beef Ramen, Mt. Fuji Rmen, Spicy Wagyu Soup. Reasonable price, comforting selections that you can hardly go wrong with. We tried the Garlic Rice in Hot Stone RM21.
Was so full towards the end of our dinner session but decided to have Matcha Tiramisu RM16 – one of their signature desserts that is oh-so-good! Remember to dig deep down to the bottom of the wooden serving container. you will get beautiful layer of mascarpone cheese, red bean paste and sponge cake. Soft and creamy, just the right treat to end the meal sweet.
