Ruma Puteh Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, finally a cafe in KL that makes us feel like we are in a theme restaurant in Bangkok, Bali, or maybe Siem Reap.
As “when can we travel again?” still leads to an unknown answer, the opening of beautiful cafe in the city has somehow, brings a little joy and happiness to our weekend activities, especially in certain months, where we usually go for a vacation.
Situated opposite to Istana Budaya, a short walk to Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, and adjacent to the upcoming Titiwangsa MRT station, Ruma Puteh KLCityScape holds a great bonus on its location, for both tourism and local casual dining. In fact, the cafe is fast becoming the talk of the town since they opened their doors to the public during end of February.
It is a fun, cheerful place that boasts vibrant, candy-colour vibes, creatively redesigned from a corner lot house. Not to wrong to say that it is one of the most Instagrammable cafes to visit in 2021, despite we are just welcoming the third month of the year.
Plenty of photography opportunity, from the famous arch walkway entrance to garden surrounded by lush greenery, colourful, chic-looking spots for your #OOTD. Look out for this charming little house too!
For food, Ruma Puteh menu covers a choice of local Asian and Western fares, highlighting traditional delights from Johor. Lontong Darat, Peranakan Laksa, Nasi Lemak Bakar, Bugis Laksa, Nasi Rewang, Nasi Kerabu, Kacang Phool are some of the must-haves, and along with that, enjoy roasted pumpkin, tempe quinoa salad, penne pesto, spaghetti bolognese, penne puttanesca, spaghetti aglio olio prawn. Go for all-day-brunch such as egg benedict, stuffed sweet corn muffin served with smoked salmon, avocado sourdough toast, chicken pesto with brioche toast if you prefer Western-style chill & relax brunch.
Selections aren’t extensive, but sufficient for a filling meal. Price for most main courses are above RM20, but capped below RM30. We shared a platter of Nasi Kerabu – blue pea rice served with chicken, fresh ulams, budu, solok lada, salted egg and special in house sauce. Wanted to try tempe quinoa salad and lempeng roll too, but wasn’t available during our visit.
Overall, a nice cafe with interesting concept. Expect queue or waiting (*if it is full house) to dine-in, no reservation allowed. We reached around 10.40AM on a Sunday and there was already a long queue in front.
