Aki’s Kohi, Cheras
When few of our friends started to share with us this new cafe named Aki’s Kohi in Cheras, and looking at the frequency their lovely sandwich appear on both Instagram and Facebook of cafe hoppers, we knew that we have to give this place a visit.
Took time off during Deepavali holiday, walked in at 9AM. Love the aroma of coffee that welcomed us once we pushed the door in, and this front counter that makes a great fit for Instagram-able shot.
Aesthetic interior in light wood and white minimalism theme. Not something new in town but we do like the overall ambience that allows us to enjoy on a cup of coffee without much disturbance. Just some quiet moments, before crowds come in.
Though Aki’s Kohi isn’t a big cafe, it can be quite short -handed when it gets busy, as the shop is run by only two persons, also a couple. So be patient if your coffee or food takes a while to arrive.
For menu, Aki’s Kohi has a beverage list that is much longer than their food selection, from your usual long back and latter to Rose Coffee Latter, Dirty Matcha, Belgium Dark Chocolate Latte, Hojicha Latte, Irish Coffee (*the last time we had this was at Await Cafe Taman Desa, it has been a while!), Strawberry Latte; as well as comforting tea like Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Rose Green Sencha, Lemongrass n’ Ginger, Matcha from Matcha Hero Kyoto.
There are only two types of sandwiches available for now – Tuna Sandwich and Egg Sandwich. You can choose to change from normal bread to croissant, then make it a set with a choice of Latte or Long Black. Price will be RM15 for Egg Sandwich + Coffee Combo, RM17 for Tuna Sandwich + Coffee Combo.
Homemade sweet treats like brownies, marble cakes, scones, are available too, which easily get sold out easily by evening. Guess we were too early that day, as dessert shelves were still empty, and sandwiches can only ready in another half an hour.
So hand brew coffee and a hot latte to chill. Saw that they were finally serving the famous sandwich when we were about to leave. Egg, lettuce and tomato between two toasted bread- Something simple, but looks pretty good though. Probably will drop by again when we are nearby next time.

Simplicity Sandwiches and Coffee 简朴-, Cheras
If you have time, drop by Simplicity Sandwiches and bring home some freshly baked goods. You would probably pass by on your way to Aki’s Kohi.
Simplicity Sandwiches might not have the best sourdough or croissant in town, but what makes us want to come back is the down-to-earth ambience with friendly service. Staffs are really polite. Their bread and pastries are reasonable in price too.
