The new norm Petaling Street is still rather quiet when we went to buy flowers the other day. Most shops are still closed, but some cafes around Jalan Panggung are doing quite well. Ho Kow Kopitiam, needless to say, had a long queue. Luckin Kopi is having good business too, with short line waiting to go in. So we decided to switch to Kafei Dian, a kopitiam we have always wanted to visit.
Kafei Dian is just 2 minutes walk from Pasar Seni MRT station and Kwai Chai Hong, very convenient especially for tourist. This building was once the old post office, built in 1911 in Malay and Tudor style architecture.
Food covers mostly Malaysian favorite, from popular breakfast soft boiled egg with toasted bread in kaya & butter to nasi lemak, Penang assam laksa, Penang prawn noodle soup, Chicken hor fun soup, as well as small dim sum selection including chicken glutinous rice aka loh mai gai, lotus paste bun, red bean bun and lao shar bao.
Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang RM11.90
Order Indian curry seafood with rice, sweet and sour chicken with rice, sweet & sour fish with rice and chicken curry with rice, Hainanese chicken chop on the menu if you are looking for quick, fuss-free substantial meal to fill up the tummy. Price from RM10.90.
Options like are also available on the menu. If you visit in larger group and prefer sharing dishes, check out their homey delicacies such as kampung fish, stewed ginger chicken, stewed ginger duck, asam fish soup, stir fried vege, deep fried chicken, sweet & sour chicken, sweet & sour fish, stewed potato chicken. Portion is generally for one, so you may want to order more.
Nothing much memorable here, except the morning kopitiam vibes. Kopi is good though.
