Congratulations to the re-opening of Skillet@163, Fraser Place Kuala Lumpur!
Located along Jalan Perak, Skillet@163 has always been a remarkable restaurant in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, serving up modern European cuisine that sets to satisfy discerning palate while being affordable. They have recently undergone some renovation, now reopened with a brand new stylish look, new decor, new seating area and menu with new exciting additions.
Visited for lunch over the weekend, and we were impressed on how the talented culinary team put a distinctive spins on the classic cuisine, creating memorable casual fine dining courses filled with creativity.
Skillet@163 lunch menu focuses on gourmet 2-course or 3-course set. Price from RM55 for the former, RM70 for the latter. If you are light eater and prefer to choose just one dish, you can also order as ala-carte.
Bread to start. Big love for their butter, and …that wooden serving board. So pretty!
IKURA
Salt Baked Russet Potato Salad | Creme Fraise | Chives
A whole layer of ikura topped over salt baked Russet potato salad! Savour slowly, enjoy the sweet, briny pop of salmon roe that livens up this appetizer.
SALAD
Chicken | Grilled Endive | Walnut Croquant | Orange Preserved
Other choice to begin with include SALMON – Fermented apple, celery, brown buter, seaweed; ONION – Roquefort cheese, sourdough; FOIE GRAS – Rounge duck foie gras, curry, raspberry, prune, and SALAD – Chicken, grilled endive, walnut croquant, orange preserved.
CHICKEN
Chasseur | Spatzle | Autumn Vegetables
CHICKEN, main course that you will hardly go wrong with. Fried chicken leg done right – crispy crackly skin, shielding juicy, tender meat beneath. What raise our attention are these homemade German spaetzle, a type of pasta made from eggs, flour, water and salt. Mini and doughy, goes well with chasseur sauce served along.
SEAFOOD
Lawas Highland Rice | Seafoods | Saffron
Skillet 163’s rendition of risotto-style comfort food, using Lawas Highland Rice instead of arborio rice. An amazing substantial dish that showcases beautiful matching of European cuisine with Asian touch, while supporting the local agriculture produce by small farmer in Malaysia.
Signature Texture of Chocolate (*decoration above is for Christmas Edition, may change according to festive)
Single Origin Venezuela 72% Chocolate | Spiced Butternut Squash | Blonde Chocolate | Cocoa Soil | – 196C LN2
Sweet ending with WOW. Chocolate sphere sits on a bed of cocoa soil, blonde chocolate balls, cocoa nibs; drizzled with warm chocolate sauce, cracked to reveal pebbly butternut squash “popcorn” that is formed from the fun chemistry effect – rapid freezing using liquid nitrogen . Don’t mind having more dessert like this.
Overall, had a really wonderful lunch at Skillet 163. While we first thought that dining at Skillet@163 Fraser Place would cost us an arm and a leg, today’s lunch experience totally changed our mind. Food is awesome from creativity to presentation, ingredients matching, quality and taste. Definitely worth every penny you pay. Service is impeccable, staffs are knowledgeable. Talk about returning, yes, of course we would. Highly recommended restaurant for anniversary, birthday, proposal, corporate event or any other celebration.
