Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur Bao-Tea-Ful Afternoon Tea, probably one of the best, most creative and most affordable weekend high tea we have had in KL thus far.
It is always a pleasure dining at Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur. Plenty of fresh ideas, from their earlier Stripes Meets Bloomsbury Festive menu to celebration with specialties from Jalan Kamunting Neighbourhood, Sizzling Sundays Eat-all-You-Can Ribs & Meat and the latest launch – Bao-Tea-Ful Afternoon Tea at Brasserie 25.
A unique concept that put a spin on classic, highlighting Oriental-style afternoon tea fused with modern touch instead of the usual 3-tiers afternoon tea. No sandwiches, cakes, desserts or tarts, but a selections of Chinese steamed bun filled with ingredients that are rest assured, satisfying and delicious.
Begin with welcome drink. Refreshing, great for the scorching hot weather.
Pick your bao, and get ready to indulge.

Kim.Chi.Chicken – Korean Fried Chicken, Cheese & Kimchi
Stylo Milo – Fried Bao, Milo, Condensed Milk
Love each and every pao filling, be it the sweet stylo milo with condensed milk or savoury salted egg butter prawns, braised beef brisket, ayam kunyit, roasted duck and lamb rendang. Interesting mix of Asian and Western flavours, pairing just right with steamed bun.
Our top pick goes to the moist, braised-till-tender beef brisket stuffed within fluffy steamed pao. Generous cut of meat too! Summerkid personally enjoyed the Kim.Chi.Chicken. Mildly spicy, with sharp flavours of kimchi cut through in between crunchy, juicy bites of fried chicken chunks.
Golden Sui Kow is a surprise. Pao as the replacement for normal sui kao skin, folded with minced meat patty and deep fried to golden brown. Unexpected rendition but so good!
For sweet, diners can have Stylo Milo Pao and Fried Ice Cream Pao. Stylo Milo Pao is especially memorable. It reminds us about our childhood time, where we would spread milo on toast, then topped off with condensed milk. Similar, but Hotel Stripes KL makes a better version. You gotta try it out.
Do not forget your dessert. Bubur Cha Cha or Sweet Potato Yam Sweet Soup, Red Bean Soup and Cendol – prepared in the old-school way.
Do not miss out that Red Bean Soup if you love this sweet treat. There’s Chen Pi inside ( Dried Mandarin Orange Skin)!
Accompany the meal with Pu Er, Oolong or Jasmie Tea.
Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur Bao-Tea-Ful Afternoon Tea is available on every Saturday and Sunday, 3PM-6PM at Brasserie25. RM88 per person (One-For-One), really value for price high tea. Recommended.
