Yü 御 by Ruyi The Gardens Mall, a new venture by award-winning Ruyi & Lyn BSC is now opened, ready to welcome you for a feast of eyes and tummy with their beautifully crafted pork-free dim sum and modern Chinese cuisine.
Mention about Ruyi & Lyn BSC, you will probably have nasi lemak sushi, hainanese chicken sushi and all things innovative yet tasty pop up in your mind. They are the pioneer in launching these creative food series, and now, the list is going to be merrier as talented Chef James Ho and his team crafted a menu of beyond-ordinary, pork-free dim sum for the brand’s latest venture in KL – 御 Yü by Ruyi The Gardens Mall, Kuala Lumpur.
And yeap! This huge basket of dim sum says it all!
Taking over the previous location of The Han Room (*next to The Gardens Hotel & Residences), Yu by Ruyi sets to appeal the most discerning taste buds with a menu of fine modern Chinese delicacies, delicate dim sum and in-house cocktails.
This giant dim sum basket put together a lovely selection of dainty morsels, from meat & seafood filled Sakura Prawn Dumpling, Abalone Siew Broccoli Dumpling, Fish Roe Dumpling, Gold Fish Dumpling, Lotus Leaf Glutinous Chicken Rice….
…to meat-free options including Brocoli Dumpling, Steamed Pumpkin Dumpling, Vegetarian Dumpling, White Lotus Salted Egg Yolk Hedgehog Bun, Charcoal Custard Flowy Bun, Hong Kong Style Thousand Layer Cake and Gula Melaka Honeycomb Cake.
Alternatively, you can also order these dim sum ala-carte. Price is relatively reasonable, starting from RM8.
This fluffy bun in the shape of hedgehog is too adorable to eat!
Deep fried and Pan-fried items are not to be missed too, like Curry Potato Dumpling, Deep Fried Prawn Dumpling, Sweet Chili Crabs in Toasted Mantou, Crispy Radish Cake, Crispy Taro Spring Roll, Kataifi Mango Roll, Crispy Bean Curd Prawn Roll and Raddish Cake with Crispy Conpoy, just to name a few.
Crispy Swan 天鵝酥 RM10
While this isn’t our first time having swan-shape pastry, Yu by Ruyi’s version is worth mentioned, especially on the pastry. So fresh, flaky and buttery.
Yu also expand their repertoire of flaky pastry into more varieties, such as this Wagyu Puff designed in the shape of cutesy cow! Crispy outside, smoky sweet gooey filling inside. Recommended.
Two is better than one. So here you go, toasted mantou bun with duo flavours – sweet chilli crabs filling and white pepper crabs filling! Too good to share, but you should.
Our first try on Ruyi’s crab roe x rice creation was Ruyi & Lyn’s Crab Curry Fried Rice. It was so memorable, and we feel glad to see this on Yu menu too. Along with it there’s Steamin’ Crabilicious, which is equally delicious, layering flavours of salted fish, chicken pate and whole steamed crab with roe – all on a bed of glutinous rice.
Now this is something – Tofu infused with matcha in a subtle way, topped with caviar, salmon roe and fragrant oats. Salmon roe clocks in especially right in enhancing the overall taste with savoury flavour bursting in our mouth once biting through!
Peking Duck? Too mainstream. Chef James Ho levels up the idea of classic Peking duck with a premium touch, adding caviar and foie gras in between the thin, crispy duck skin, creating luscious flavours that will surely wow your palate.
When your food looks like an artwork. You take plenty of pictures yet feeling bad to start eating it.. This gorgeous potpurri has crispy wanton sheets rolled into cone shape, filled with crispy crab and sweet corn. It is sweet, it is crispy, with juiciness of ocean treat.
Rock the salad! Shake it and laid out a refreshing, crunchy and nutty concoction made up of deep fried soft shell crab, fresh greens, fruits and nuts in orange juice. Love the multi-colours, flavours and textures! A salad that fits well to its name!
RM15/ 3 pcs
Surprise continued even when we were closed to the end of meal. Playboy Carrot was served as dessert. Judging from its cute carrot shape, we thought the filling would be carrot paste, or maybe carrot ice cream but no, it was molten peanut lava that oozed out, making it a sweet & savoury “carrot” with rich peanut-y finish.
