Seabass “au safran” RM39
Thanks to Chez Gaston KL, we get to visit this restaurant last weekend, sampling some of the signatures dishes from the menu. Everything tastes pretty good, especially French Onion Bacon Soup, Beef Bourguignon and Chocolate Mousse.
Raclette Salad RM22/small; RM32/large
Began with Raclette Salad, a texture loaded bowl that put together warm boiled potatoes, pork bacon bits, Parma ham, melted raclette cheese on a bed of green salad and white wine French vinaigrette.
French Onion & Bacon Soup RM15
French onion soup in beef stock base, with mini cheesy baguette on top. Love the roasted onion and bacon strips that adds more bites in between our sips of this comforting, tummy warming soup.
Small Mix Platter RM41
An assorted platter of Parma cured ham, saucisson, country style pate, chicken pate, smoked duck breast, salad, gherkin, caramelized onions.
Cheese platter RM38
If you prefer just a particular type of cold cut or pate, Chez Gaston KL has ala-carte serving of country style French pate (RM16), chicken liver pate (RM14), wild boar pate with red port (RM18), rabbit pate with dry prunes (RM14), pork rillettes (RM16) and duck rillettes (RM41) too! Not to forget, if you are cheese lover, do check out their cheese platter with 4 cheeses, specially selected by Chef Florian.
Poulet Baquaise RM29
For mains, we tried Poulet Baquaise, Seabass “au safran”and beef Bourguignon – hearty food that we can hardly say no to.
On the other hands, Australian Grass-fed Grilled Striploin, Charolaise French Grilled Ribeye, Grilled Lamb Skewer, Griled Chicken Chop are great options if you are in the mood for grilled meat with smoky, charred edges goodness.
Beef Bourguignon RM48
Beef Bourguignon, our favourite in Chez Gaston KL. 8 hours slow-cooked beef cheek in red wine, yielding moist, extra tender meat well-flavoured with super-rich wine sauce! Definitely a worth getting classic French stew.
Chocolate Mousse RM12
Dessert to round up our meal! Sweet treat in Chez Gaston KL might not be fancy but they are real good stuff that will surely won’t disappoint, like this chocolate mousse! Thick chocolaty, so smooth and delicate. Recommended.
Traditional Apple Tart RM12
Summergirl’s favourite. Buttery, crumbly pastry, layered with real apple jam and generous apple slices for juicy, delicious sweetness. Old-school style homebake dessert that you won’t want to share. LOL.
Overall review: A nice place for typical French meaty and seafood delights, with extensive wine list to accompany your meal. One thing that we love about Chez Gaston KL is their high effort and attention in serving authentic French cuisine, rather that having a lot of modern fusion elements coming into play. Come for their hearty French dishes, stay for awesome classic French dessert!
