Greyhound Cafe Malaysia opens a second outlet in Mid Valley KL, near to Centre Court entrance, beside Antipodean Cafe.
Greyhound Cafe is no strangers to many, especially if you explore Bangkok food a lot. The establishment actually started out as a fashion retail, and only ventured into F&B industry about two decades back.
With a strong characteristic that distinguish themselves from many cafes – photography-worthy designer interior, creativity-loaded menu with delicacies beyond traditional Thai favourites and competitive price, Greyhound Cafe successfully built up their reputation in a short period.
Now, they have outlets in both Thailand and overseas, like Malaysia and Singapore. The first Greyhound Cafe Malaysia is in ANSA Bukit Bintang KL, and the latest in Mid Valley KL.
Greyhound Cafe menu is wide, covering Thai all-time-favourites and modern Thai-Western fusion dishes. Despite incorporated with Western elements, Greyhound still give a good weigh of Thai flavours in their food – a way of highlighting the origin, of where they come from.
Spicy Spaghetti Thai Style RM29.00
Take this spaghetti as example, chefs stir-frying the pasta with chillies, fresh peppercorns, basil leaves and lots of seafood – squid, prawns, clams; adding spicy Thai twist in an Italian classic staple food.
Complicated Noodle RM26
And then we have this Complicated Noodle. It works like a DIY wrap, where you need to first take a piece of fresh lettuce leave, then layer it with thin noodle sheet, minced chicken sauce, green chilli sauce and coriander. Fold into roll-like and take a deep bite.
We didn’t put much expectation on this but it tastes so good! Plenty of textures and flavours that pairs well when come together, especially the green chilli sauce that surprisingly, helps to bring out the taste of square noodle sheet. Don’t mind getting our hands dirty and wrap few more. Recommended.
Greyhound Famous Fried Chicken Wings RM18
Greyhound Famous Fried Chicken Wings , one of our favourite Thai street snacks. Thai chicken wings appear to be drier and smaller in size but it is amazingly good with the extra crispy, golden brown outer layer laced with umami-ness of fish sauce, and tender meat locked with juiciness.
Penne with Seared Scallops, Asparagus, Light Pesto Cream Sauce RM46
Everything with pesto sauce can easily becoming Summergirl’s favourite, including this one. Expect it to be a normal pesto pasta, but there’s hint of spiciness in it! Not overwhelming, just nice to enhance the overall flavours along with pesto sauce nuttiness.
Scallops are huge and juicy, giving texture contrast to the asparagus soft crunch. Recommended.
Minced Chicken with Sweet Basil Hot Chillies RM27
For main course selection, Greyhound Cafe offers an interesting mix of Thai delights like Fried Rice with Shrimp Paste, Minced Chicken with Sweet Basil Hot Chillies, Thai Green Curry Seafood with Rice, Shrimp Paste Chilli Dressing and Fried Fish with Rice; as well as fusion Thai dishes such as Spicy Fried Salmon with Holy Basil on Rice, Tenderloin Steak with Green Curry Sauce and Rice, Fried Rice with Dried Salty Fish and Grilled Salmon Steak on Green Bed, just to name a few.
Ordered Minced Chicken with Sweet Basil Hot Chillies with Rice or Pad Kra Pow, and we love it! Thai comfort food that you can hardly go wrong. It is spicy, sweet, savoury, with aroma from basil – highly flavoured, so it is best to go with rice, plus a sunny side up topped over!
Young Coconut Crepe Cake RM22
End our meal sweet with Greyhound evergreen dessert – Young Coconut Crepe Cake. Roll of thin crepe sheets, with shredded young coconut and whipped cream in between. Not too sweet, creamy but not cloying, thanks to the refreshing coconut flesh. Recommended.
Sea Salt Caramel Chocolate with Vanilla Cream RM22
Other cakes and sweet treat you can get here included APple Crumble with Ice Cream, Sea Salt Caramel Chocolate with Vanilla Cream, Mixed Berries Crepe Cake, Chocholate Banana Crepe Cake, Blueberry Cheesecake, Banana Nutella Cheesecake, Happy Toast, etc..
