Pintu Old Malaya – The hidden dining destination in Kuala Lumpur that sets in a-century-old heritage building built in 1919, with fantastic view of Kuala Lumpur tower stand majestically, almost right in front of you.
Whether you are here just to unwind with a glass of specially crafted cocktail, or indulge into delicious Western delights with chef’s very own creative twist, their unique ambience, which that blends in charm of the past with modern contemporary design will certainly make your dining experience more noteworthy.
Leek & Potato Cream Soup, Porcini Mushroom Soup, Watermelon Feta Salad, Balsamic Tomato Bruschetta, Duck Salad with Grilled Pear, Pan Seared Ocean Seabass, Spiced Grilled Chicken, Australian Rib Eye Steak, Grilled Prawn with Cafe d Paris, Seafood Aglio Olio, and Pan Seared Ocean Seabass and more are dishes you can find on Pintu Old Malaya menu. Not exactly extensive but rest assured, satisfying.
Beverage menu carries more extensive selections, with a good list of cocktails, beers, shooters, tequila, gin, whisky, martini and wine for you booze. Had a try on Alkalisk, a cocktail concocted from Vodka, Peach, Vanila, Lime, Midori (RM28); and Succubus – Gin, Lime, Cointreau, Cucumber and Grenadine (RM28).
For food, we began with Autumn Salad (RM28). A hearty serving of vegetables, fruits and nuts, putting together spinach, arugula, dried cranberry, soft ricotta cheese, bread crouton, grapes, cashew nuts and peach fruit compote for myriad of colours, texture and flavours. Refreshing, with crispiness from various ingredients. Love the peach compote that gives a pleasing fruity tang finish.
Porcini Mushroom Soup (RM25). It is served in a small bowl, but don’t underestimate it’s richness. Thick and creamy, ideal to be shared between 2 persons while waiting for main course.
Extra marks to chef for adding in liberal amount of dried porcini flakes, something that we rarely seen in mushroom soup served in KL. More texture, like biting into shredded Chinese dried scallop.
Grilled Norwegian Salmon (RM65) for Summergirl.
Moist, perfectly cooked salmon with a layer crispy skin, served over a thoughtful presentation that combines green pea puree, roasted potato, baby carrots and seasonal greens at the side.
Australian Rib Eye Steak (RM65), Summerkid’s all-time-favourite.
Pan seared to lock with juiciness, beautiful charred edges, still pink at the inside. More jaw-exercise needed while eating the steak, but still alright to us. Again, generous portion of arugula salad to balanced up the nutrients.
Look at the juicy, tender cut!
Last but not least, dessert to wrap up our dinner! Pintu Old Malaya is prides for their Caramel Pudding (RM25) – Pistachio praline, berries compote with caramel sauce; Mango Sago (RM26) – Sweet mango, coconut milk, palm sugar syrup; Wrap Banana Confit (RM25) – Salted caramel sauce with maple glazed and vanilla ice cream and Oreo Cheese Cake (RM28) – Blue berry coulis, sugared raspberry. Tried Oreo Cheese cake, plan to check out the rest in next visit!
Overall, a great experience at Pintu Old Malaya. Personally enjoyed their Porcini Mushroom Soup, Autumn Salad and Grileld Norwegian Salmon. Staffs are friendly and attentive, and constantly check with us if we need anything. Recommended restaurant for anniversary dinner, birthday party or any other celebration.
