Fresh Atlantic Salmon Yee Sang 鴻運三文魚撈生
Other than the topping, what makes InterContinental CNY Yee Sang worth a mention is the use of ingredients. Chef replaces lime juice for raw fish slices with apple vinegar, uses olive oil instead of normal oil and two extra surprise – deep fried salmon skin that contributes crunchy flavours; and thick straight cut Korean sweet pear that adds refreshing, fruity juiciness in between the myriad of textures.
You can also add-on abalone, bird nest, Northern Canadian lobster claw, soft shell crab, Atlantic salmon, baby octopus, jellyfish, crispy salmon skin, Korean sweet pear. Price from RM18 to RM178. For us, of course is an additional plate of Crispy Salmon Skin. Order for take away (*minimum 2 days in advance) if you want to toss at home!

Tao InterContinental Kuala Lumpur offer 3 specially crafted Chinese New Year menu for 2018, price at RM1988 for Harmony Set; RM2388 for Prosperity Set and Lonevity Set at RM3688. We managed to sample few of the signatures, personally recommend Roasted Duck with Chinese Herbs, Crispy Roasted Chicken with Spice Sesame vinegar Sauce and Deep fried Sweet Potato with Ninko dessert.
Crispy Roasted Chicken with Spice Sesame Vinegar Sauce 麻辣脆皮雞
The crispy chicken skin is addictive, but the ma lat sauce with sharp spicy aftertaste does wonder. Loud applause to chef for putting extra effort in preparing this Spice Sesame Vinegar Sauce, something different from the CNY chicken dish we had in other places.
Roasted Duck with Chinese Herbs 當歸燒鴨
Glossy dark brown skin, succulent and juicy meat laced with hints of Chinese Dong Gui herbs – Easily becoming Summerkid’s favourite food on Tao InterContinental Kuala Lumpur CNY menu.
Wok-Fried Tiger Prawns with Mongolian Butter Sauce 蒙古醬草蝦
Another interesting dish on Tao InterContinental Kuala Lumpur CNY set. Wok-fried tiger prawns, flash-fried with Mongolian Butter Sauce for rich, creamy and peppery finish.
Steamed Eight Treasure Glutinous Rice 八寳糯米飯
Eight treasure glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo sheet mini packet, steamed till soft. Light dish, but not one-dimensional as different flavours come through as we bite into the chopped meat and vegetables (*bat bou aka 8 treasures) hidden within.
Deep Fried Sweet Potato Ninko served with Chilled Aloe Vera, Peach and Osmanthus Oolong Tea Syrup 金薯年糕伴凍桂花茶香蘆薈水蜜桃糖水
Sweet treat presented in the shape mandarin orange, with triple textures surprise – crunchiness at the golden brown outer layer, followed by earthy creaminess of sweet potato and lastly, soft chewiness of ninko. Recommended. Complete with soothing, chilled osmanthus oolong tea sweet soup with aloe vera and peach.
