Indulge into special Afternoon Tea with Chinese New Year Theme at Lobby Lounge, Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur! Available only for limited period.
If you are not going anywhere this Chinese New Year but just stay in Kuala Lumpur, and find that shopping or watching movies are just too mainstream, fret not, Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur has got something interesting for you to add on to your ” What to do in KL during Chinese New Year” list, which is – Afternoon Tea in Chinese New Year theme!
Available from now till 28 February 2018, 3PM to 6PM daily, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur Chinese New Year Afternoon Tea features a delightful savoury and sweet treats, beautifully arranged in triple-tier trays with Oriental touch.
Started from the bottom tier, morsels of Fried Mantou with Marinated Chicken Jerky, Chicken Floss, and Pickled Cucumber; Snow Crab Salad in Crispy Pie Tee; Marinated Spicy Prawn with Mango and Pineapple Salsa; Smoked Duck Breast with Scallion Egg Rolll are lined up.
Summergirl loves this Smoked Duck Breast with Scallion Egg, inspired from Peking Duck dish. A simplified version but doesn’t fall short in taste.
Snow Crab Salad in Crispy Pie Tee – top favourite from the savouries. A different take from our usual Pie Tee, more premium version too. Snow crab salad filled into golden pie tee cup, concocting sweetness of crab meat, light creaminess of salad dressing and crunchiness of pie tee cup for mouthful of texture. Pop in the whole cup in one go for more satisfying munch.
Middle tier of this CNY Afternoon Tea Set calls for Caramelized Chicken Puff with Walnut; Ninko & Sweet Potatoes Spring Rolls and Steamed Ninko with Grated Coconut – a selection leans more to traditional and must-have during Chinese New Year, with a touch of creativity. For instance, ninko and sweet potatoes wrapped in spring roll, deep fried to give more crunchy texture.
Dim Sum lovers would enjoy the chicken puff. Freshly baked, crumbly outer layer, generously stuffed with chicken chunks coated in thick, gooey, caramelized sauce.
Top tier is about all things sweet. Also our favourite when comes to afternoon tea. French pastries as core, incorporated with Chinese New Year elements such as macarons in red colour, finished with white chocolate printed with 福 – a symbol of prosperity.
As we tried out one by one, we found each item on the sweet selection really surprises us. Especially love this Mandarin Cremeux with Pineapple – looks like a Meringue Lemon Tart, but tastes like pineapple tart! Thumbs up on the innovation!
Hazelnut-Oolong Petit gives a nutty, chocolaty indulgence, laced with faint hints of oolong tea. Other desserts included in Shangri-La CNY Afternoon Tea Set are Eight Treasure Candies, Yuan Bao White and Dark Chocolate, Sea Moss Macaron.
Scone is one of the signatures in Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur Lobby Lounge. Hence, this afternoon tea session is incomplete without sinking your teeth into this lovely pastry.
They even have the scones fit into the joys and festive mode of Chinese New Year by infusing Mandarin Orange flavour into it, then placed in dim sum basket. Awww.. how sweet. Served with Cottage Cream and Orange Marmalade.
