2ND Floor Kitchen & Bar at TTDI, Kuala Lumpur holds the nuances of a hipster cafe for relaxing brunch during the day; yet provides an elegant, welcoming ambience of a restaurant bar for intimate, casual dining in the evening.
Hexagonal patchwork tiles, piece together in style with greyish floor tiles in similar shades, vibrancy added with forest green wall that blends in boldly. Further adorned with wooden panels to create extra texture, colour goes light to soften the overall look.
White surface stands in contrast to it, but injected with heaps of character – a wall painted beautifully with tropical rainforest wonderland mural. So Instagram-worthy, expect to see this masterpiece very often, very soon on our social media.
Brown leather chair, light grey wooden armed chairs, walnut wood colour chairs – furnishing are a mix & match of modern contemporary and classic vintage, summing up more unique charm to the whole restaurant.
Thoughtful combination of colours and textures, truly in love with how they perk up the entire space.
Classic French Toast RM24 – Brioche, Berries Jam, Maple Syrup
While the interior is outstanding enough to catch our attention, food is not shadowed too. For lunch, 2nd Floor menu covers a good selection of soup, salad, healthy bites, brunch classics, pancakes, toast, baked eggs, coffee and dessert. During dinner, European delights incorporated with creativity from 2nd Floor young and innovative kitchen team are served.
Flat White RM10, Latte RM10
If you are in the mood for booze, feel free to ask for wine & bubbly recommendation, as 2nd Floor Kitchen Bar is proudly opened by the team behind Private Room – KL pioneer’s speakeasy bar cum wine lounge, and The Pawn Room, an equally famous cocktail bar. Else, you can get your caffeine fixed with a cup of coffee.
Baked Eggs Ginataan with Chicken RM 19
Baked Eggs Ginataan with Chicken. Do check out this awesome hidden signature if you dine in 2nd Floor. It looks like a normal baked egg, but tastes more than that!
Taking inspiration from a Filipino dish introduced by 2nd Floor Filipino staff, Baked Eggs Ginataan has santan as one of the major ingredients, further concocted with onions, ginger, garlic, birdeye chilli, butternut pumpkin, santan, grilled chicken and egg . In Filipino language, Ginataan means “food done with coconut milk”.
The outcome is a rich, creamy and flavourful dish. Like a coconut milk loaded cream soup, just much thicker, flavoured up with spices and tender bites of grilled chicken for protein. Sided with bread pieces, which we used to mop up the wonderful gravy. So delicious you must-try.
Iberico Sandwich RM43
Ultimate Cheese Sandwich, Open Face Smoked Salmon, Open Face Roasted Chicken, Open Face Smoked Duck, Spanish Pork Sandwich, Steak Sandwich, and yass, spotted Iberico Sandwich as we browsed through their Sandwiches list. Order immediately. LOL.
Tucking into meltingly tender, buttery and sweet meat, it is hard for not liking this premium quality pork with superior texture, rich flavour profiles. Layered in between the bread slices are mixed fruit salsa and mixed salad that help to balance up the overall taste with crispy and refreshing touch, further spiced up with sriracha mayo sauce.
2NDFLR Benedict RM24
Other brunch options on 2nd Floor day time menu are Mix Fruit Quinoa Salad, Salmon Benedict, 2NDFLR Matcha Pancakes, Doriyaki Pancakes, Banger & Mash and more. 2NDFLR Benedict is another favourite of ours, because it is garnishing with crispy, chewy bacon bits for extra textures and bites.
The Red Apple RM23
Do not leave 2nd Floor Kitchen & Bar without indulging into their dessert! Remarkable from interior to food, coffee, and now on dessert. Loud applause to the dessert team. They clearly put in great effort in churning out plating dessert that is a feast to the eye and palate. For example, this beautiful crafted “Red Apple” paired with Apple Chutney, Granny Smith Granita, Ginger Gelee.
Chocolate & Coffee RM22
As usual, dessert loaded with unmistakeable chocolate x coffee goodness easily becomes Summerkid’s favourite. In fact, is the best seller in 2nd Floor. Almond Jaconde as the base, followed by whipped coffee ganache and then chocolate of different texture, assembled into photogenic dessert.
Mont Blanc RM24
A different take from the usual Mont Blanc with chestnut puree swirled into mountain peak shape. 2nd Floor’s version has pureed chestnut cream nestled within shortcrust pastry – the mini Mont Blanc, halved and decorated together with spiced pear, speculoos cookie crumbs (*We like Speculoos!!!), Rosemary infused citrus and a scoop of ice cream.
In short, most items that we sampled in 2nd Floor Kitchen & Bar are delicious, especially Baked Eggs Ginataan with Chicken, Mont Blanc and Chocolate Coffee dessert. Already feel like coming back again for their other desserts. Give this place a try when you are in TTDI. Worth checking out.
