Good Blue Men Cafe Seksyen 17 PJ: Kam Heong Chicken Sandwich Calling!

November 12, 2017 by summerkid_summergirl

Good Blue Men Cafe Kam Heong Chicken Sandwich. Finally there is something different from a brand new café in Klang Valley that managed to raise our attention. The café is situated in Happy Mansion Seksyen 17, Petaling Jaya, to be exact on the location.

We love fusion food, as creative mix and match can always lead to unexpectedly good end result. Just not all are satisfying. But when it does, sharing it with you guys is a must – Kam Heong Chicken Sandwich from Good Blue Men is one of them!

kam heong sandwich

We first came across this “gui lou style bread” with Chinese cuisine touch when scrolling through our Instagram feed. Paid this place a visit last weekend for breakfast and went straight to this best-seller Kam Heong Sandwich. It appeared just like many other sandwiches – Chicken breast, Kam Heong Sauce, arugula leaves and Japanese cucumber between two breads, plus a side of salad. Nothing special, hence we were a little skeptical on how good will it tastes initially.

Don’t judge. It tastes whole lot better than it looks. The thick cut chicken breast might be plain, but as it draws flavours from Kam Heong sauce prepared from 13 types of herbs and spices, it sums up to delicious bite that is just right – rich, fiery hot, and pack a punch but won’t make you feel “Kam Heong” overloaded. Bite deeply and we enjoyed more wonderful flavours and texture concoction from crusty outside, chewy inside homemade oregano bread, and liberal amount of arugula leaves and Japanese cucumber that help to balance out the overall flavours. Each ingredient matches nicely, and it’s filling too!

They have 3 more Signature sandwiches, namely Beef Pineapple, Acar Chicken and Cheezy Meltdown. Sounds delicious too heh? We tested Cheezy Meltdown on our second visit, and it was real cheesy as it is named.

Other than sandwich, Good Blue Men menu also covers a delicious list of rice bowl, pasta, main course, snacks and desserts. Spotted Mushroom Stoganoff Rice Bowl. Have to go with beef when we saw “stroganoff”! Love these tender beef strips cooked in flavour-packed sauce with sour cream, laced with mushroom and onion sweetness. Comfort food that is kept classic, but scores well for being simple yet tasty.

You can also have chicken and fish option for the rice bowl.

aglio olio

Next up, Aglio Olio Grilled Chicken. Hearty noodle portion, with large piece of grilled chicken on top. Spaghetti tossed in garlic, olive oil, chilli and spices. Chicken is spiced too – and they aren’t skimp on the amount, so for those who are not into herbs and spices, this might not be your cup of tea. But Summergirl likes this and clear everything. LOL. If you do not fancy aglio olio, their Creamy Seafood Tomyam Pasta, Carbonara with Onsen Egg, Sesame Pasta with Onsen Egg and Creamy Pesto Pasta with Fish are worth checking out too.

good blue men pancake

It was still raining heavily after we finished our food. Ended up trying also Disaster Platter while waiting for the rain to stop. Hahaha. This Disaster Platter looks pretty though. Piping hot pancake stack in trio flavour – milk, chocolate and matcha, topped with vanilla ice cream, brownie pieces, marshmallow and almond nuts. Seems so sweet but it isn’t.

Apparently, brownie pieces did a nice job in adding a little chocolate bitterness, and pleasing sticky sensation like red date cakes, making the dessert quite stands out. Another plus point, pancake came fresh and hot, hence we get an excellent cold-hot matching from cake and ice cream! GBM Ice Cream and Golden Pineapple Bars look intrigued too. More dessert at the front counter.

coffee-mocktail

Good Blue Men serves decent cup of coffee in black and white but beyond this, their Signature Coffee Mocktails speak loud too. Espresso Mojito, Mint to Be, Blood Black. Matcha Tiramisu Shake – give these playful drinks a try.

good blue men latte

Thanks for this extra Rusty Latte treat. Chilld coffee with milk and coffee, meant to be drink without stirring. Recommended.

In short, our meal in Good Blue Men Happy Mansion is lovely, better than expected. Food price on Good Blue Men menu are mostly around RM20 in average, considered affordable. Café design isn’t top notch or extra photography-worthy, but very comfortable and relaxing. Do give their Signature sandwich and rice bowl a try!
