Neighbourfood Cafe, a shop that lives up to its name in terms of location and nature of business – It is situated within the neighbourhood of Pandan Jaya (in the vicinity of TESCO Ampang), an eatery that churns out a lovely selection of Western and Asian delights served at reasonable price.
Putting together raw and rustic elements like cement floorings, wooden tables, black lacquered stools, hue yellow lighting, Neighbourfood Cafe showcases modern industrial style interior, further adorned with potted green plants for some nature charm.
Lunch hour here can be quite packed, with families, working crowd and other patrons coming together for a fuss-free meal. Neighbourhood Cafe menu covers from value set to ala-carte pasta, pizza, salad, soup, all-day-breakfast, light bites, dessert and a long list of beverage that made us spent some time deciding which one to have.
Started with Caesar Salad, a classic yet healthy option loaded with various textures from romaine lettuce, turkey ham slice, hard boiled egg, croutons. All tossed in sesame Caesar dressing, finished with grated parmesan cheese.
Pastas is something that Neighbourfood Cafe prides at, one of our favourites too. We especially enjoyed their Tom Yum Seafood Spaghetti. A cream base pasta added with Thai twist, blending in pleasing spiciness and sourness of tom yum at an amount that is just right to enhance the overall flavours. Mildly spicy, more appetizing and less cloying sauce, with generous amount of seafood including mussels, prawns, fish and squid to go with your noodles.
Aglio-olio is not bad too, beautifully flavoured up with olive oil, finely chopped garlic and chilli flakes – the essential ingredients for this pasta flavour. Other pasta choices in Neighbourfood Cafe are Seafood Marinara (RM18), Spaghetti Meatballs (RM18), Carbonara (RM16).
Pizzas are the more expensive item on their menu, but definitely worth the price you pay for. Generous toppings, covering up the entire tomato sauce spread pizza base with liberal amount of mushroom, onions, fresh basils and cheese. The scoring part? Crunchy edge, chewy centre thin crust and irresistible cheese.
Apart from the normal ala-carte dishes, what makes Neighbourfood Cafe noteworthy is their value set, available all day, every day. Price starts from RM9.90 and nothing beyond RM13.90, inclusive a glass of ice lemon tea. Indulge into Grilled Chicken Chop, Herbs Crunch Fish, Turkey Ham Aglio Olio, Sweet & Sour Chicken with Rice, Kong Po Chicken with Rice and Seafood Tomyam Fried Rice without giving a pain to your wallet.
Crunchy Frenzy, a photography worthy sweet treat great for your social media feeds. Caramel popcorn, wafer stick, wafer crumbs, Oreo cookies, oreo crumbs, whipped cream and vanilla ice cream nestled on Shibuya thick toast. Hearty portion, enough to serve two.
Beverage ranges from hot tea to ice tea, nojito, gourmet coffee, tea float, soda float, fresh juice, soft drinks, milk shake, chocolate and more. Check out Nojito, or mocktail mojito. Refreshing, excellent thirst quencher on a hot day.
Give Neighbourfood Cafe a try when you are nearby. Tom Yum Seafood Sapaghetti is must-have, best with icy cold nojito.
