Double-boiled Dried Scallop, Top Shell and Fish Maw Soup
Hop on MRT and visited Ee Cuisine, a reputable Chinese hotel restaurant in KL. Chef is prides for his fine, delicatedly prepared Oriental dishes, combining both traditional and modern flavours to impress palates of diners.
Seafood Trio
We checked out few of their highlighted selections, started with Trio Seafood Platter. Amazing starter, putting together seafood treasures with fresh fruits for myriad of colours, flavours and texture. Our favourite goes to the “wu kok” looking morsel that wraps in scallop and banana in mashed yam, battered and deep fried to crispy golden brown.
Thought it will be just plump, juicy oyster jacketed with crunchy deep fried outer layer but a deep bite on it we were surprised with the filling. There’s crab meat and scallop inside too, and it is graciously coated with salted egg yolk. ooh-so-nice.
Personally feels that the shredded cabbage nestled in the oyster shell work more than just being decoration. Have the salted egg yolk seafood with it, it helps to balance up the overall flavours, toning down the greasiness.
Roasted Crispy Pei Pa Duk
Must-have in Ee Cuising Eastin Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Laborious preparation to get an outcome with glossy, dark brown crispy skin, sealing in tender, juicy meat underneath. Served with chef secret Pei Pa sauce that is savoury-sweet with herbs concoction.
Steamed River Patin with Preserved Vegetables and Onion in Superior Soy Sauce
Stir-fried Prawn, Homemade Beancurd and Broccoli with Spicy Sauce
Homey dish with chef creative twist. A base of silky smooth steamed egg, centred with a basket built using broccoli, filled with stir fried prawn in spicy sauce, and vegetable-tinged homemade beancurd arranged around it. Highly recommended.
Stir-Fried Soy Noodles with Shredded Chicken and Dried Shrimp
Glad to see stir-fried soy noodles on our dinner table that night. Mum used to cook this at home, and it has been some time since we last had this noodles. Simple comfort food, flavoured up with shredded chicken, dried shrimp, soy sauce, dark sauce and other condiments. Flavourful, ideal to be shared in large group as it can be filling.
Double-Boiled Fig with Crystal Pear & Peach Gum
Dessert is thoughtfully prepared too, not just usual Glutinous Rice ball in Ginger Soup, Mango Sago Puree or Aloe Vera Longan Sweet Soup. Double-boiled Fig with Crystal Pear and Peach Gum is served hot, nourishing, not too sweet. First time trying out peach gum, or 桃膠 and find it really interesting. Like chewy gummy, but is actually a collagen rich ingredient great for skin, harvested from Chinese peach trees.
