M Boutique Hotel in Ipoh Old Town, Perak has gained much attentions from both local and foreign tourists ever since they opened in 2013. It is claimed as one of the most beautiful hotels in this town, and we can hardly deny this after our stay in this place. By now, the group has expanded to have M Boutique Station 18 Ipoh, M Roof Hotel & Residences Ipoh and M Boutique Kampar.
Their urban-vintage, gothic-style, quirky design can easily impressed, right from the lobby to guest rooms, common work place and even the corridors. Dark, woody and atmospheric interior, along with artistic decor pieces.
M Boutique Hotel lobby is the place that we love most. Imagine walking on wooden planks flooring, with retro European bar-like reception counter coming in sight, complemented by drawers that decked up high behind; metal sphere chandelier hanging from ceilings, sofas in earthy tone, all adorning by flowers and green plants that instantly liven up the entire space.
Elegant with a touch of luxury, bold modern look. Young vibe in the morning as plenty of natural light shines through; romantic, cozy in the evening, when surrounded by warm hue yellow light.
Every corner is so photography worthy that we couldn’t help but start taking photos right away.
Paying homage to the Straits of Eclectic Architecture from bygone era in Malaysia, M Boutique replicating much of the pre-war shop houses found in the Straits Settlements, infusing into their 93 rooms distributing over 3 floors.
Each floor carrying their own theme for unique staying experience.
Level 1: The Adventure Theme – Inspried by tales of expeditions on Malaysian Safari circa in the late 1800s.
Lavel 2 : The Majestic Theme – The favourite floor with most requests from guest. Raw and rustic, industrial like.
Level 3 : The Excelsior Theme – Rooms in this floor showcases strong contrast to the rest, emphasizes more on spectrum of colours and patterns. More towards English Cottage setting for lovely, warmth ambience.
For us, we requested for The Majestic theme, and glad that they fulfill our request. An approximately 17 sqr meters room size, furnished with queen bed, 12 inches thick mattress, duck down plush top, dual density pillows, LCD TV, minibar, in-room safety, WiFi, universal power socket with USB port, and basic toiletries.
An environment where wood, concrete exposed bricks, dangling wires, tungsten lightbulbs come in together to contribute to a rustic-industrial look; with framed pictures in numbers and wallpapers that further blends in modern feel.
Bathroom appears in black-and-white, minimalism but so pretty! Hair-dryer, conditioner, shampoo, bathgel, towels, toothbrush are given.
M Boutique Hotel is thoughtful enough to put old-school welcome snacks for guests to munch on, and packets of Old Town White Coffee O (*instead of usual boring Nescafe) that well-represent the town.
Let’s switch the attention to the common space at Level 1! The common space is equally amazing in design! We can chill and relax, surf internet, have discussion, read newspaper or do laundry here.
Yeap, they have 24-hours self-service laundry area. They even provide a place to dry up your washed clothes.
Gym with sophisticated equipment within the yesteryear space.
And not to forget Summerkid’s favourite iMac desktop. Cool.
On the ground floor, there are two restaurants, namely Myth Eatery & Bar and Old Town White Coffee Grand. Myth Eatery & Bar offers continental cuisine that uses fresh produce, high quality ingredients on their food. While for Old Town White Coffee Grand in M Boutique Hotel, it is Malaysia’s very first Old Town White Coffee Grand that focuses on full service with actual chefs set in Colonial Brasserie environment. Hotel breakfast are served in these two places. Diners can choose to have dishes from Western or local menu.
M Shop, their very own boutique shop that sells bags, hats, shirts, etc.. Spotted a very nice bag here at less than RM50.
Overall review: we really enjoy staying in M Boutique Hotel. It worth the price we paid for, about RM210 per night including tax. Everything is thoughtfully design, attention to detail except just one thing- their WiFi is literally not working. LOL. But still, we will come back again to check out their rooms in other floors, and the newer M Boutique 18 station! Highly recommended if you are looking for reasonable price, nice hotel in Ipoh!
