After a successful opening in Sunway Pyramid West Hotel last year, Sanoook Restaurant ventures into Pavilion Elite, cheering up KL folks with their creative Japanese Thai fusion delights. It is located same floor with Food Republic, near to Pavilion Elite entrance from Gindaco, in between Dolly Dim Sum and Nando’s.
It is hard to go wrong with Thai delicacies in Sanoook, as the restaurant is established by the team behind Chakri Palace. But of course, while enjoying something that Sanoook is already good at, do try out their Japanese food with Thai twist, a more playful combination but will surely elevate your dining experience.
Thanks Pavilion KL for the grand opening invitation, we managed to savour few signature dishes from Sanoook menu -Mieng Kam, Tomyum Soup with King Prawn, Soft Shell Crab Sushi Burger, Salmon Skewer, Salmon Sushi Roll, Pandan Chicken, Pan Fried Tuna Steak, Mango Sticky Rice, Pooja.
Tomyum Soup with King Prawn
Tom Yum Soup is our all-time-favourite, be it a clear version or red hot version. Sanoook’s tomyum is more pronounced on sourness, mild spiciness, packed with herbs aroma. Standard size, but quite generous with ingredients.
Soft Shell Crab Sushi Burger
Soft Shell Crab Sushi Burger. Pan-fried rice burger to replace normal soft bun, sandwiching freshly deep fried soft shell crab with veggies. Take a deep bite to enjoy the texture loaded sensation – crispy, juicy chewy, refreshing. Served with Sweet corn and root chips.
Salmon Skewer
Salmon Sushi Roll
Says sushi rolls are the most obvious Japanese + Thai “duet” on Sanoook menu, can’t deny. Grilled Tuna Sushi Roll with Spicy Tom Yum Sauce, Fresh Salmon Trouta Sushi Roll with Spicy Miso Cream Sauce, Salmon Sushi Roll with Spicy Mayo Sauce are all worth a try.
Pan Fried Tuna Steak
Pan Fried Tuna Steak, one the best dishes in Sanoook. We gained liking over this dish ever since we visited their first outlet in Sunway Pyramid, still as good we we had it in Pavilion KL. Buttery tuna, seared at the edge, pairing well with stir fried spinach and mixed mushroom in Teriyaki Sauce.
Pooja
Deep fried crab meat with salted egg and minced chicken filled in crab shell. Haha, tasted a little similar to our Chinese dish. Great starter for sharing.
Mango Sticky Rice
We had this Mango Sticky rice as sweet treat halfway through the food session. Haha. Traditiomal Thai dessert calls for a more “sunny” feel by placing sticky rice in ice cream cone, topped with sliced fresh mango. Pretty creative, photography -worthy too.
Salad Jars on-the-go, an effort by Sanoook to encourage city people to have healthier diet even though get tied up with work. We got two jars of these too. Vegetables, pasta, chicken breast, tomato- obviously a nutrients packed meal ideal for quick lunch, even dinner.
Pandan Chicken
On a separate visit during lunch with colleagues, we also had Pad Thai, Pineapple Fried Rice, Phad Thai Noodles with Prawn, Seafood Tom Yum Fried Rice, Tom Yum Glass Noodles, Thai Papaya Green Salad, Thai Fish Cake, Pandan Chicken. Do check out their Green Curry Fried Rice, it was really delicious.
