Jibby & Co at Empire Shopping Gallery, Subang Jaya – When this Melbourne-inspired cafe opened in 2014, the response, the feedback, the crowd and the queue were so overwhelming that they immediately made it into the list of top cafes to visit in Klang Valley.
3 years later, today, Jibby & Co is still one of the highly recommended cafes in town. Be it for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner or merely teatime, anytime is a good time to dine in this place. Queue starts by noon, especially during weekends.
In fact, there is always a reason to go back, because Jibby & Co revamps their menu from time to time. There’s always surprises on new items and for this time, we are happy to hear that they are launching cold brew in bottle, brewed at a low temperature for a period of 14 hours.
Jibby Cold Brew
Jibby’s cold brew is prepared from beans from three coffee regions, namely Costa Rice Tarrazu La Rosalia, Columbia Causa Fluata, and Kenya Kiriyaga. The brew is designed to focus on the flavours of each coffee’s region, delivering high level of sweetness, complex fruitiness and bold structure for refreshing, smooth coffee.
“Notes of dried apricot, honey and blackberry aroma, a medium soft citrus acidity, red apple with sweet finish and medium rounded body of good length are flavours you can expect from Jibby’s cold brew”, as highlighted by barista Aaron Phua, third runner up for Malaysia Barista Championship 2017.
Just cold brew? Of course not. A trip to Jibby & Co is incomplete without having a brunch in their glasshouse-like architecture, a mix of industrial design surrounded by green plants.
Baba Love RM30
The latest menu covers a delicious sweet & savoury selections. We had a try on Baba Love that put together a choice of eggs ( sunny side up or poached eggs) with potato & corn beef hashbrowns, mushroom & rosemarry mousse, pickled onion, cauliflower and sweet chilli labneh.
Not bad but big eater may need to add-on something else for a more filling meal. We especially enjoyed the hash browns as it was filled with burst of beef sweetness, texture akin to croquette.
Kick Ass French Toast RM27
Summergirl had Kick Azz French Toast. Beautiful presentation! Brioche loaf with vanilla bean custard, mixed berries drizzled with maple syrup, salted caramel candies nuts. That salted caramel did a great job in levelling up the entire flavours. Sweet, salty, citrusy, tangy in one go.
Queen Bae RM28
Our friend had Queen Bae, also a breakfast choice on the sweet side. Two chocolate pancakes sprinkled with crushed Ores, pistachios, fresh berries, coconut ice cream, milk chocolate sauce and maple syrup. Definitely a dish for sweet tooth.
Other food option you may have in Jibby & Co including Jibby Big Breakfast (RM21), Mr & Mrs ( Jibby poached eggs with chilli hash, artisan chicken sausage, baby spinach, onions, Jibby Chilli, Jam and dukkah Hollandaise RM28), Casabianca Eggs (RM29), Roasted DUkkah Butternut Pumpkin Salad (RM28), Panko Crumbed Soft Boiled Eggs and Smoked Salmon Salad (RM35), The Brooklyn Burger (200g grass fed beef pattie on brioche RM45), Mr Sanders Crispy Chicken Burger (RM35), Tiger Prwan & Blue Swinner Crab Pasta (RM35), Shredded Duck Confit Pasta (RM29), Nasi Campur Daun Pisang (M45), Margherita Pizza (RM30) and a lot more.
Do try out their desserts too! Nutella Volcaramelo (Nutella chocolate fondant with crushed Oreos, fresh strawberries, pistachios, and vanilla ice cream RM26) is already on our pocket list for next visit must try. =D
