Nova Highlands Resort and Residence, a hotel strategically located in Kea Farm, Brinchang, Cameron Highlands. It may not be the best hotel in Cameron Highlands, and they received mixed reviews from blog and different websites. But considering the location, price and convenience, it is still recommended, be it for couple or family.
We had a 2D1N stay in Nova during our getaway to Cameron Highlands last week. One Bedroom Suite is pricey, over RM370 due to CNY peak season. Checking through Agoda, price for the same room type is less than RM250 per night during normal day, so still OK. For family option, there is also 2-bedroom suite, 3-bedroom suite and penthouse that can cover up to 8 pax.
Our staying experience with Aranda Nova wasn’t exceptionally great, not too bad either. We like the location, which provides easy access to most places in Cameron Highlands. It is situated within the compound of Cameron Square, a basic mall complete with restaurants like Old Town White Coffee, Teh Tarik Place, Hometown Steamboat; Watson pharmacy; 7-11 convenient store and 3D Museum.
Room is large, about 48 sqrm, complete with a living room, pantry, wash room and cubical bedroom.
Nice Living room. Television offers many TV channels, comfortable sofa and a balcony to enjoy view from high floor. Just one thing, coffee table was quite dirty, especially at the slits.
Modern bedroom design, something noteworthy. Instead of separating the room with just cold-hard-walls, Nova Highland Resort and Residence uses floor-to-ceiling glass window and curtain, making it to look like a cubical. Better if the bed could be more comfortable, and had thicker bed quilt.
Washroom is sectioned into dry and wet area, quite spacious too. Hair dryer, towel, toothbrush & toothpaste, shower cap, shampoo and body wash are well-prepared, same as normal hotels.
Since it is a residence-style hotel, pantry is ready with microwave oven, plates, bowls, kettle and cutleries.
Next to the hotel is a mini funfair, and famous Ee Fung Gu Bee Farm is just further down the road. Butterfly farm is just 2-minutes walking distance, great for daytime activity..
..and as dinner time reach, can check out Jin Jin Steamboat & Western Food Restaurant, which is just after the Butterfly Farm.
The winding path to Sungai Palas BOH Tea Centre – the tea garden with beautiful building perched on top of a hill is just right opposite to Aranda Nova.
If you turned left, Brinchang Night Market and town are just 4KM away..
..and if you turned right, Lavender Farm is just 10-minutes drive from the mall.
In short, a fairly acceptable accommodation for 2 pax, more ideal for family. For couple, we suggest to try out Snooze Hotel or Snooze Too Hotel in town area surrounded by many steamboat restaurants, if they are not fully booked. But parking can be difficult there.
Pros:
1. Plenty of parkings as it is linked with Cameron Square Mall
2. Easy access to many tourist attractions
3. Next to Butterfly Farm, Ee Fung Gu Bee Farm
4. 10 minutes drive from Lavender Farm
5. A mini funfair next to Nova
6. Food to eat in Cameron Square just below the hotel, like Old Town White Coffee, Home Town Steamboat and Teh Tarik Place
7. 7-11 convenient store and Watson pharmacy
8. Museum is located within the same building
9. Brinchang Night Market is just 4KM away
10. Spacious, modern room design
Cons:
1. Overall cleanliness need to be improved
2. Washroom has unpleasant smell
