Shugatori Dessert Cafe at Damansara Uptown, Petaling Jaya – Get our sugar fix at this cafe last weekend because we were curious to check out their “special waffle”, which is highly mentioned by many recently. The team has creatively level up the presentation of usual waffle to more than just topping over with ice cream, fruits, cotton candy or whatever it is, but having waffle and honey toast in dual colours, which they named as Yin & Yang on Shugatori menu.
We initially thought that it is just another gimmick to make the cafe’s dessert stand out from the stiff competitions across the town but after trying out, we realized we were wrong. Shugatori is being really serious on their dessert, and it is as delightful as it looks.
Yin & Yang RM21.90
Looking through the menu, Yin & Yang appears only twice, one for toast while another for waffle. Other selection is either in classic or charcoal version. So instead of saying being gimmicky, we personally feel that Yin & Yang appears as a great choice where diners get to try out two flavours at the same time. Something like having a pizza with 4 types of toppings.
Since we were still full from our brunch at Coffee Smith, we ordered only the best seller waffle and latte. Half charcoal and half classic waffle, topped with minty mango, strawberry compote, roasted almond nib, meringue crisp and a scoop of premium vanilla ice cream – it tasted way better than expected. Crispy outer layer, airy within with chews, superb with the cubed-till-mini mango topping. Summergirl and Summerkid don’t usually fight for the same food, but we did it in Shugatori. LOL.
Latte RM10
Other sweet treat selections on Shugatori menu include charcoal toast with berries toppings; or Azuki red bean & matcha ice cream; salted egg yolk sauce; white chocolate whipped ganache with milk chocolate cremeux, just to name a few. Pancake is not shadowed too, with flavours like red-velvet infused pancake, pandan-infused pancake, chocolate pancake with salted caramel to please all dessert lovers. For beverage, enjoy coffee, housemade mojito, tea or lemonade.
So, recommended? Definitely YES. Already eager to try out their toast in next visit. Also wonder when will Yin & Yang ^ square (4 colours) will be launched. Hahaha. Staffs are polite and attentive despite the crowd =D. Shugatori is located same row with Softsrve> The Good Batch > Nara but towards the end of the road.
