Yee Sang Fatt Seafood Restaurant, Pudu KL (易生發半山芭松魚頭)

December 27, 2016 by summerkid_summergirl

Yee Sang Fatt Seafood Restaurant (Yi Sheng Huat) at Pudu KL (易生發半山芭馳名家鄉松魚頭), a “dai chao” restaurant famous for their steamed soong fish head. Summerkid’s mum was the first one in the family who discovered this place, and was so excited to introduce to us.

Yee Sang Fatt Seafood Restaurant

We re-visited this restaurant last Friday, trying out few of their signature dishes. Operating hours for Yee Sang Fatt is 12PM – 2.30PM for lunch, 5.30PM – 11PM for dinner. Do make your reservation earlier or be ready to be in the waiting list, especially during weekend. We were lucky to be there early, around 7PM, and was not crowded yet. But no worries, service is fast.

Crispy Golden Yam Ring / Fatt Put 佛钵飘香 RM25

Food ordered were by random, including Crispy Golden Yam Ring, Stir Fried Sweet Potato Leaves with Chilli Belacan, Fish Head Curry, Hokkien-style Stir Fried Sang Mee and Braised Pork Ribs. Golden Yam Ring, or Fatt Put was the first to arrive on table. Pretty decent, with crispy outside, sweet inside yam basket, with chicken chunks, cashew nuts, onions, bell pepper nestled within.

Fish Head Curry 咖喱魚頭 RM50

Yee Sang Fatt Restaurant serves pretty good curry – rich, flavourful broth laden with coconut milk, medium spiciness, accompanied by plenty of vegetables that soaked up with curry. Despite so, we personally felt that it doesn’t worth the price, as we were given super tiny piece of fish head. Suggest to order curry, can be seafood, but not with fish head.

Braised Pork Ribs / Yat ji Guat 一支骨 RM40

Yee Sang Fatt Seafood Restaurant

The best dish among all. Highly recommended. A long “stick” of pork ribs, braised till tender, dressed in a bed of brown sauce that has gathered gelatin goodness of the pork. It was really soft in texture, with balanced fat and lean meat that is easily fall of the bone.

Summer’s family last experience with Yee Sang Fatt “gao choy fa har kao” wasn’t really good, so they decided to try out something more common this time. Glad that it turned out well, somehow better than our weekly dinner restaurant version, Soo Kee Ampang.

Add-on an order of Hokkien-style Stir Fried Sang Mee, which was quite delicious too. Portion for 1 was quite big. Love that they threw in plenty of deep-fried pork lard, adding more crunch to the overall texture.

We saw many tables ordering Signature Deep Fried Beancurd and Marmaite Pai Guat, probably will check it out next round. Yee Sang Fatt is located same row with Sakura Hotel, one street away from Huen Kee Claypot Chicken Rice.
